They build their homes upon the seashore, the quicksand castles of their dreams...

Also, in case you missed it... here's ELO re-imagined as 90s alt.rock by Bay Area indie rockers J Church.

Even many crypto bros are smart enough to back off claiming magic internet money is a viable get-rich-quick scheme (instead touting its supposed use case). But Congress is apparently all-in on the pyramid scheme as a selling point.

Interesting perspective. I certainly get why it has its advocates, but of all the albums with Janet Weiss, this is the one I enjoy least. Maybe I’m just getting old, but I found it too battering, and lacking the hooks that made even their more abrasive work fun.

At least as good, if not better? Juliana Hatfield's cover from her 2023 ELO tribute album.

I’m guessing it was on his playlist. Though he avoided some of their excesses.

They washed away the rumors leaving just the concrete truth, it was a spectacle, no, I mean a miracle...

Wasn't aware of it! I'll need to track it down. (Still need to see the Pavement movie as well.)

I know a few of the early Lorde singles, but missed her take on Swingin' Party. Very cool!

I loved Rachel Pollack’s Doom Patrol run back in the day, and those covers were amazing. I was so glad they finally, belatedly, released the Omnibus (covers and all), shortly before her passing.

Great power pop guy. Found him last year through his mock-Rutles album (which I guess is sort of a mock-mock-Beatles album).

Kicking myself for not seeing Momma last time I had the chance.

One more reason I fantasize about reissuing Husker Du remixed to sound more like the first Sugar album.

I sat this one out, finding when I needed a break from TM her solo albums were more to my liking. Maybe I should revisit.

I personally prefer the Dukes to XTC. And while I love a few early XTC tracks, I find them the rare band where I spend more time with their later work. So two thumbs up from me! (But, ugh, those prices! Glad I left vinyl behind.)

But he might sail tomorrow night, set off for some far-off distant shore...

On the shortlist of albums that changed everything I thought I knew about music. Plus it's just really great.

I was a little annoyed because I saw the announcement and thought maybe we'd be getting some new Feelies music, rather than just some repackaged b-sides. But, hey, maybe they decide to dig further into the vaults next? Would be great to have a live Feelies album (besides the VU covers show).

When I was a kid, my dad had a bunch of these. I remember when he hooked up a quadrophonic hi-fi, and his Enoch Night quadrophonic 8-track tapes would bounce the percussion around the room. I mocked him for his lame taste in music... and, of course, now I own a ton of these because they're awesome!

Ha! I'd delete the post now that I've properly placed it in the reply where it was intended to be... but I don't want to deprive anyone of the chance for some quick mockery. I'm old!

Yeah, sorry, this was supposed to be posted in a reply to another post, but I'm old and the internet is just a series of tubes for me.

Definitely their best, most consistent album... I mean, the debut comes close, some spotty production aside, but the highs on this one are insane. Bright Future, Little Red Light, No Better Place, Hackensack, just nonstop brilliance (especially the first half of the CD).

Some great songs for sure (Faith In You, Millennium Blues), but I just don't return to the stuff after Blue Sky On Mars all that often these days. Except the covers albums with Susanna Hoffs, which I still play constantly.

I remember being wary of them at first (Australian punk! sounds like MC5!)... and then I gave them a chance and it was just good ol' rock & roll with surf rock guitars, played with a little more energy. Some incredibly fun songs.

Incredible record. And so unexpected after his first couple attempts. I mean, yeah, if you've got Lloyd/Quine it's gonna SOUND great, but you've gotta have the songs, and he finally got there. I love that Girlfriend/Beast/Fun run.
