History will not be kind to those aligned with this insane man child.

...feels like we stepped in dog poo as a nation.

Yes, it's coming.

Personally, I favour a more radical progressive landscape, but it's up to the progressive political movement to present a digestible alternative to the broader electorate.

This election was billed as the one that would deliver a balance of power to the greens and independent progressives with Labor. So what happened?
comment in response to post
Not sure I'm sold on the idea that voting for LNP or right-wing loonies will 'stick' it to Labor and get a more favourable outcome.

He's probably getting 5 secret ones

Two human headlines... lining their pockets

Threats to Canada, Mexico, Greenland, Panama, Gaza, Ukraine,…. Global trade wars… war on rights… war on legal norms… war on race… war on minorities… what claptrap is he spewing.

Would a MRRT have helped?... so many wasted opportunities.
comment in response to post
Would a CPRS a decade ago be helping right now?... just asking.

Serious partners can be found elsewhere and other serious countries are doing just that. These trumpists are neither reliable nor trustworthy. We already put cash down with little to show for it... smells like the extortionists they are.

I think it's pretty much a given now that everything is a lie to support his stupid assertions and dangerous insane fantasies. It's just little more than entertainment tv with disastrous real-world consequences.

Looks like a winner

Seems like the entire USA is now run literally by cheaters and petty crooks.

Interesting perspective
comment in response to post
Seems like the electorate has given Labor the power to be bolder and less timid. The independents are being told to keep going. The greens I think are being told to be more realistic and less idealistic and to make Labor be bolder. The LNP just need to get out of the way.

If recent events hold, the next pope is going to be very left leaning.

Oh also a sausage in bread with tomato sauce at the polling booth (no voter goes hungry)
comment in response to post
Oh and an independent electoral commission that sets boundaries fairly. Also, well established national standards for fair vote counting.
comment in response to post
Also, a preference system means the votes flow to the nearest alternative if the voters primary choice fails to win and are not simply discarded.
comment in response to post
Compulsory preferential voting helps... imo.

I'm proud of my country... "a contry of courage and kindness" as Penny Wong says.
comment in response to post
a LNP majority or even a minority government would be truely a worse result for the environment …IMO.

Australia welcomes good scientists, musicians, artists, medics, etc as would any country that's still great ...just sayin'.

Suggesting he's harvested all the messages for use later as leverage just in case... well because it would be silly of him not to do that.

They don't have original ideas. They think they are the born to rule party and that we won't notice all they are about is copying shitty populist junk from shitty (right wing) wingnuts. They are the sort that just outsource work to the wingnuts, rake in the perks while boozing in the bar.
comment in response to post
We have our own crop of them here in Australia, salivating at the prospect of gratifying their twisted fantasies.
comment in response to post
They are all miserable petty little shits... their pleasure is the suffering they cause.

I forget... what's the reason we need a nuclear sub from the US again? Was it regional security or defending our trade routes with China?
comment in response to post
Billionaires just exploiting the situation.

Because it's easy and they are lazy with zero interest in civic service... just raw unaccountable power.

The lows get lower... when will be too low?

He's insane...

Perhaps we should send Ukraine a battalion of huntsman spiders to deliver to the Russians by drone. Lightweight, non-lethal but terrifying none the less.
comment in response to post
comment in response to post
Yeah the snowflakes... a mere picture of a huntsman spider would work
comment in response to post
I think we should be employing Ukrainians to help us out.
comment in response to post
Seems ridiculous, but it's now not inconceivable that the USA might forcibly coerce or physically invade Australia... they are now a credible threat imo.

Next Australia I hope

An administration devoid of a moral compass led by the insane.

There are ways governments change behaviours, both positive and negative. Prohibitive duties on monster trucks, efficiency standards, encourage farm/on-country glamping experiences, cheaper regional air travel, ...it's an endless list. It just requires an intelligent, motivated government.
comment in response to post
(I'd argue as a government you could) Remove the option altogether, and encourage more worthy and profitable alternatives to emerge...
comment in response to post
Sometimes, choice is just a commercial illusion created simply to make a buck.
comment in response to post
Perhaps we should simply ban stupid vehicles whose sole purpose seems to be to inflate the ego and promote cargo cult consumption.
comment in response to post
20 years ago a farmer/tradie got by with a small light ute/van. I can't see why monster trucks are needed now (mostly look like they are not used as trade vehicles anyway). Taxing over sized and over weight monsters (dumped here) would encourage lighter more economic vehicles.
