Soft light falls across a patchwork of fields in the Clun Valley, just an hour or so before sunset. I love this rolling countryside and its ancient footpaths, so it was a surprise when I realised that I hadn’t visited in more than a year. I decided to put that right over the weekend 1/4

On my Reading List. I adore Jane's work, and I'm looking forward to this one especially.

Vu que les vidéos pseudo-historiques générées par IA commencent à se diffuser et que ce n’est qu’un début, j’ai fait quelques recherches et je suis tombé sur un short sur Charles Martel. Attention, catastrophe en vue et fil à dérouler 1/

When faced with an ever expanding universe, it's hard for one person to believe they can make a difference. But if you just focus on one little mossy corner of the world, anything is possible.

Love! I have the PB version, which included not only a message from Lanigan but a sweet note about romance readers and romancelandia by Michael Douglas, who produced the film & starred in it alongside Kathleen Turner. Posted a photo of the pages long ago at mariaslozak.tumblr.com/post/1535414...

Thank you to the kind and knowledgeable employee at The Ripped Bodice for putting Scarlett Peckham's "The Rakess" in my hands, last month, after I asked for a #historicalromance in the vein of Meredith Duran and Sherry Thomas. I'd never have picked up that old-style clinch cover on my own.

Midway between May Eve, Walpurgis Night, and the Summer Solstice the Wonderful @hatchards.bsky.social held their annual highly celebrated gathering of stoytellers... amongst the partygoers of course was Joan Aiken, in this ghostly anthology thanks to @blpublishing.bsky.social and @johnnymains.co.uk

Alright, premodern world teachers. Want to add a badass lady & her writing as a primary source to your fall syllabus? Let’s chat about Byzantine historian & princess Anna Commena (Ἄννα Κομνηνή, c. 1083–1148) & her history, the Alexiad (open access from Archive.org) archive.org/details/anna... 🧵

Nearing the end of my first read of Les Misérables. Did not expect that the two most affecting characters (as distinct from "favourite"), for me, would turn out to be Éponine and Monsieur Gillenormand.

Five days of silence, surrounded by beauty, shared by kind, compassionate, joyful beings. Grateful. 🙏☮️❤️

The involvement of #Armenian women in manuscript production is visible in decorated margins & closing colophons—where they appear as commissioners, sponsors, scribes, illuminators, commemorators, intercessors, teachers, & witnesses. Dr. Ani Shahinian shares some examples: hmml.org/stories/seri...

Hidden corners of my village. Going to post a Cornish photo a day on the run-up to publication of SECRETS OF THE BEES because the setting for this novel is so important. Hope you too will fall in love with Ezra, and Cornwall. #Cornwall 💙📚

Parkhouse Hill morning, Dove Valley, a warm memory from a good few years back. Not many clouds around on this beautiful morning but the boughs of the sycamores overhead filled the space nicely. #Derbyshire #England #PeakDistrict www.damianshields.com
