hey, I just followed you on LinkedIn and it looks like you don't post there very often. Heads up that LinkedIn is attracting a lot of activists who engage directly with decision makers. I'd love to be able to share and comment on your posts through LinkedIn.

On May 20, PM Carney joined France and the UK in promising sanctions against Israel if the assault on #Gaza didn’t stop.
The massacres continued. The famine deepened.
Two weeks later — no action. No sanctions. Just silence.
Canada must act now. #SanctionsNow

What about Truth and Reconciliation? How can you talk pipelines and not have First Nations involved in decision-making? The economy is important but it won’t be relevant if our world is on fire. #landback

unless it's an actual legal document, I don't even try to do my real signature. It's just a random squiggle... which is arguably probably more consistent than when I really try to sign my name properly.

So many directions accountability could go: citizen panels, ethics reforms, recall options, etc. Curious what direction you'd like to see it take. What are your thoughts?

the fact that politicians can bicker like school children without even being held to basic standards of professionalism is ridiculous. I've seen 8-year-olds collaborate more skillfully. Politicians need to be at risk of being fired just the same as anyone else would be for similar incompetence.

Legal and financial accountability for politicians to stick to their promises. There'd need to be independent oversight. We'd have to take a multi-pronged approach & apply it in all levels of gov't & public service. The problem is these changes would have to be approved by government, right? 😂

Then instead of having a winning party that gets to run things, how can we make sure all parties have to work together? We need more parties that represent the diverse values of Canadians, instead of just 3-4 choices. And better systems of accountability.

That’s concerning! We need leaders who hold themselves personally accountable for results.

Any word on what happened with this motion?

One person has written back in support of your concern. We'll see how they respond in the meeting. Will you be there? Unfortunately, I won't be present but I look forward to hearing the outcome.

hey, this is the most honest thing they've posted in a long time.

happy to lend my voice! Thank you for actively participating in our democracy. We need more of this at all levels if we're going to build and maintain a world where our children can thrive.

Letter-writing campaigns (like yours: www.votecope.ca/fundhousingnow) are vital for democratic accessibility. Are you concerned that some officials ignore valid concerns because they come from the same email service? How can we ensure these tools are respected & taken seriously by elected leaders?

sent an email to all the trustees. Hopefully they see it before the meeting tonight. Letter writing platforms are an important and accessible tool for community members to exercise their democratic rights. Those are not 160 "spam" letters, those are 160 concerned community members.

that would be nice. Renting is still an important option for people to have, if they choose it. It'd be nice if home ownership was affordable enough that renting was a real choice. I'd love to see more investments in co-owned properties. Similar to cooperative housing but with real ownership.

Cooperative housing and rent-controlled housing isn't a handout. It's an investment in long-term affordability for all residents. People pay rent, it's not free. Lack of affordable housing and no rent control results in "handouts" for the rich, while our social services are increasingly strained.
