one of the worst things about hate is how boring it is

the implosion doc led me down a titan rabbit hole and do y'all ever think about just how incredibly terrifying the very deep ocean is? and how much of it there is?

photos of dogs the moment they get The Thing They Love are my favorite

*sighs in Texpat*. at least here we get seasons BUT STILL.

early on before we really started looking, paul wanted to look for new construction and i told him (1) the yards would be tiny and (2) they're going to have the same problems a well-maintained older home would so it's a wash. unlike a lot of other things, here "new" doesn't mean "without flaws".

Grateful for the Tibetan monks who turned wolves into hand and feet warmers so that 2000 years later I could use one as a weighted heating pad when I get the menstrual cramps of death.

Oh also, the little tours in the Rick Steves books are actually very good. I had a couple of his books but hadn't done that. This time, for Barcelona, we went on three of the tours exactly as written and had a nice time and learned a lot. Imagen.

I recently listened to the stage-adaptation of The Year of Magical Thinking and it had very similar threads. It was so beautiful and comforting in my own grief that I bought the book and am going to read it this week.

27min into "Implosion" and so far this feels like a lot of reputation rehab.

i'm a gemini/cancer cusp because in the womb i couldn't decide just how messy i wanted to be anyway i take 3 medications for my mental health now

Only the best people

half marathon registration opens this month and every year it's getting harder to get one before they sell out. like, in *hours* everything is gone. bff and i are going to do charity bibs as backups and if i do that i'll need y'all to donate dollars to a good cause 😂

i'm pretty sure the endgame for [gestures broadly] is that we need subscriptions to exist, at which point it'll make more sense to just live on company property for housing/food/transportation and what little (if any) freedom they grant and oh wait what does that look like

its former customers when southwest starts crying:

i just learned coyote rollers are a thing and this is genius coyoteroller.com

southwest implemented their changes now and despite flying almost exclusively southwest for the last 10 years it may be time to consider ditching them. they took away the benefits and looking at a list of flights, they're also more expensive than my other options. enshittifcation is the worst.

We've been home for 5 minutes and I've had to take two allergy medicines and rinse with saline and I still can't breathe WHY IS THERE SO MUCH NATURE

The problem is whether the people judging you believe it's true. (Many such cases.)

Picked Waffles up from his vacation home (my dad's) and he's so upset about it. Here, he looks like he's resting his arm on the bar and I just told him we don't carry his favorite beer.

Oh also I learned what my Animal Crossing flowers look like in real life.

Still thinking about these chocolates filled with limoncello

Made it home and my final New Lifer Bird Count is 14 between Barcelona and several places in Italy. Not all *exciting* birds - I got a seagull and a pigeon, which I see plenty of here - but new to the list nonetheless.

It's good for women to have hobbies

This is why I just ate two cream-filled croissants. Very soft many battle prep.

wrong place for this my dude

No single building should be this majestic.

brb I need to find one of these to add it to my lifer list

For the first time in almost 38 years, someone correctly guessed that I'm Mexican and not [various other shades of brown]. "Eres hispañola? *thinks* Mexican, maybe?" Had to come all the way to Italy for that to happen 😂
