Broadcast Kneecap from Glastonbury, but voiced by an actor

It’s throwing it down, and I’m so happy.

I going to say 2 nice things about it! The visual design of Gotham was genuinely really great. Thurman knew exactly what type of film she was in, and she was perfect for it.

What is common in your field but shocks outsiders? Translation is about 80% skill in your native language, 20% skill in your second language. It's not about knowing what is being said. Anyone can do that. It's about saying the same thing in a different language with the same emotional impact.

I read this book this morning and it made me cry. It's incredibly touching and cleverly designed too - Maria gabriela Gama has drawn something of a proto comic for kids, sequential art for the tiny. It's about language barriers and how to overcome them and how you can relate beyond words. #KidLitUK

Watching this video of Tim Robinson reminiscing about rubbish local TV adverts has made me incredibly sad that everything has to look good nowadays. youtu.be/etO8__dW0PQ?...

Since it's almost Midsummer...

This week in The Phoenix Comic, Gorebrah and Ovo wrestle with an enchanted cook book! Plus Susie and Shrug arrive in Australia (by Joe Brady and me!) PLUS loads of amazing stories by AMAZING writers and AWESOME artists!

Please, for the love of god, hurry up Monday.

There’s a book I’m reading at the moment which - based on its premise - should be weird, and I think that the author thinks that it is weird, but it’s not and I’m begging it to be weird.

I reckon we could use some more kids’ book chat on BlueSky, so I thought I might attempt a #KidsBooksFriday chat. Let’s start with… What is one book you’d love every child to get the chance to read? Mine would be @markbradley.bsky.social’s Bumble & Snug and the Angry Pirates. #KidLitUK #KidLit

I simply despise the sun so much.

This is doing the rounds in comic circles, so it’s worth adding that there’s two skillsets here: - Becoming/being a skilled artist - Being a skilled visual storyteller Both require study and practice, however you can be a technically brilliant artist, but a rubbish comic artist.

Cannot emphasise enough how great this book is. It should be a core text in any art course.

I just want to say that if you love great comic art and its continued existence in the world, support the Cartoon Art Museum. In these dumbass times there's no guarantee that good things will stick around.

Please, for the love of god, hurry up autumn.

fix their hearts or die

The UK’s Best Kids’ Comic Festival has joined forces with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival – and here are the guests, including Jamie Smart

Exactly this. Comics are both edifying & bruising. At the same time. We all go through it. Heed Dave’s ace words…

It’s my son’s sports day tomorrow, so I’m going to be sat watching him whilst attempting to rough comics in 30 degrees with no shade. Please just put me out of my misery now.

Look, I’m just saying that I have a simple proposal to put before the correct 47%…

Being able to scratch together “good enough” with limited time and resources—whether it’s your own mismanagement that led to it or external factors—is a skill you absolutely need to survive. I’d argue it’s one of the most human experiences. We are primate MacGuyvers.

Saying this as a massive Lego fan, but the state of Lego really says something bleak about the world. Lego themes can be broken up into different groupings, but the easiest one is IP based sets and Lego owned sets. IP sets are based on existing IPs (things like Star Wars, Fortnite, Marvel, etc).

Had an increasing realisation lately that I’m kind of obsessed with physical location & environment in comics. I get incredibly antsy if I don’t have characters constantly either moving through a setting, or moving onto another environment.

A heartfelt call to the UK comic community. UK comic shops - around 300 UK independent bookshops - around 1050 As important & close to my heart that comic book shops are, as a creative collective, as long as there is an obsession to focus only on comic shops, the audience won't grow as needed.

Every single day. on.ft.com/409SaZx
