There is a guy called Doug on Canadian-Passenger-Rail on groups.io who tries to track this. He reckons 13 trainsets in rotation out of 26 sets needed daily at present, and 1 spare in each of Toronto and Montreal.

It’s not great that VIA had to do this but their bookings must be taking a hammering and this is the right thing to do by their customers. At the same time the unplanned P42/LRC/HEP maintenance must be doing a number on the financials, so Carney should find them a few bucks

In another city, such a person would be terrified to put their name forward, or to appear at public events, lest a journalist step forward and demand answers to all the questions he didn’t answer at the time of his resignation. But in Toronto, you know the press will “respect your privacy”

I don't want to see a single person saying this was warranted by the carnage in Gaza, that this was for Palestinians. I am a Palestinian person and I do not want senseless acts of terror committed in my name. I don't want Jewish organizations to need extra security because of fear of violence.

Surely the most useful thing at this point would be for DC to ship their few streetcars to join their siblings in Portland, rather than leave them rusting in a depot because they might have to return federal funding, as often seems to happen in the US
