Yes, your opinion. But will this opinion help you to learn more about our current crisis, or will it blind you to the implications of what is going on? The world has ways of becoming what we could not foresee, especially when we close our eyes.

"It's your fault you paid taxes!" Why is paying taxes a fault? As a Canadian, I benefit from tax-funded social programs like Single Payer.

"Both-siding the issues" is not the same as looking at events historically. America's imperial foreign policy has been remarkably consistent since the years of Eisenhower. The Iranians, for instance, remember Mosaddegh and the Shah, even if many Democrats and Republicans do not.

When did I define what the Gazans were, or were not, as a people? Not here. You seem to make assumptions about what I might say, and then you respond to your own assumptions. That makes your line of reasoning unclear. But no matter how this crisis develops, may you and your loved ones remain safe.

"Comparing this to them is irresponsible and naive" I see genocide as genocide. The Armenian genocide? The Holocaust? The "cultural genocide" of First Nations? The Israeli genocide in Gaza? I see them all as crimes against humanity. Comparisons are not only responsible, they are necessary.

"There was a middle East war with Biden?" Gaza, Lebanon, Syria? Hardly obscure places. And yes, the United States was involved.

"You couldn't point at Gaza on a wall map." Assertion is not argument, Mr Wendt. But I suspect you know this.

Biden didn't have what for 4 years? Israeli genocide? He certainly did. The attack on Beirut? He had that as well. Constant Israeli threats to Iran? Of course. That Trump has foolishly learned nothing from Biden's disastrous Middle East policies hardly excuses Biden.

I side with people being persecuted. Had I been alive in the 1930s and '40s, I would have sided with German and European Jews. During the campaign against South African apartheid, I sided with the Blacks. For decades, I have sided with Palestinians against Israeli apartheid and, now, genocide.

In part, yes. Biden could have stopped the genocide in Gaza, the attack on Beirut, and this current assault on Iran, just as Trump could right now, by blocking weapon sales and political support to Israel. In that sense, Biden and Trump might as well be the same president.
