I once met an āemergingā playwright who admitted he saw every other writer as a competitor and therefore couldnāt bear going to see othersā work at the theatre.

If all her other books were superlative, that could have been a form of praise.

Maybe the current Blue Bridge could benefit from replacement with something a bit wider and smarter but itās not needed and certainly not at a cost of Ā£46m.

The reason it's a big deal is every company that trained their genAI systems on books used pirated copies.
Anthropic pirated 7 million books. Being forced to pay up to $150,000 per work for infringement would be a powerful punishment for companies that don't pay authors for using their work. 3/

As my dad read only books about military history, watched only war movies and did not listen to music, I sadly have no legacy from him. He repeatedly showed me how to change a tyre but it never stuck enough for calling roadside assistance not to be the better option.

Meanwhile, in other countries, politicians lose their jobs for much less outrageous stuff than joking about elected representatives being murdered. www.theguardian.com/politics/201...

Why did the writer stop there? I feel there could have been so many more characters brought in. Whereās Dorian Gray? Whereās Dracula?

This is shocking. Keep us updated. Iāve had my ears syringed in the past and I can see no risk even if the patient were not undetectable. I canāt have it due to post-radiotherapy middle ear issues but thatās not relevant here.

Iām not even American and this brought a happy tear to my eye. With politicians here in the UK taking inspiration from Trump and the far right, the trauma goes beyond the US.

Itās funny how this wasnāt taught when I was at school. We went up to the restoration of the monarchy at the end of the Civil War and jumped past the 1688 invasion to 1914.

But transphobes say people are getting appointments and treatments straightaway, that teenagers can get in touch on a Monday and be taking hormones by the end of the week.

I drove across most of the USA in the 90s with nothing but a Rand McNally. I guess I was not much removed from the first pioneers.

Theyāre posting these sentiments on Facebook. When one of them was challenged last week with a comment that the Israeli government had been accused by the UN of āgenocideā, he just declared āantisemite blockedā.

Interestingly, I have Jewish friends in the UK who still argue that the BBC is antisemitic and anti-Israel. I imagine the language in its reporting is designed to appease these critics who still deny genocide and believe Palestinians have brought this all on themselves.

Too often the firms selling AI as the future of medicine are looking for enrichment. Every AI intervention should be evaluated as rigorously & cautiously as any new drug, not breathlessly hyped in a subjective frenzy.
Anyway, here's more of Blair's gushing. Ends/

I remember it was very good and portrayed Cilla as having to fight to make it in a male-led music industry to the extent that she alienated a lot of people.

The series is very good, and Sheridan Smith is excellent in it. It doesnāt shy away from portraying Cilla as someone who had to be tough and hard-nosed to have a successful career.

Three months?!?! How come these stories are not dominating the news, why are the president, Congress and others not seeing consequences? In other countries, cases like these would cause uproar and end political careers. Itās all so bizarre to those of us outside the US.
