Every single one of those are not even close to big deals at all.

Which Mario sports game or big internally made multiplayer game (Animal Crossing, Splatoon, etc) have released since Battle League that is built for free DLC? It’s not that they haven’t stopped making free update multiplayer games, it’s just that they haven’t released any, period, since 2022.

I would take you more serious if you could maybe cite the “shovelware quality slop” from the Switch era when there’s objective proof of the opposite? What’s your favorite Nintendo system since apparently Nintendo was nothing but perfect quality prior to 2017, which I was not aware of 🤔
comment in response to post
Kinda hard to believe that somehow you havent enjoyed anything since Odyssey, yet this is what Nintendo was releasing prior to the Switch era vs what released after the era started. If you barely became a Nintendo fan in 2017, then I guess this could somehow be true and you only like platformers lol

I mean, if all 23 other people besides you are constantly selecting to play on the highways, then Nintendo made the right choice experimenting and adding them in this new game. Not every game is going to be exactly what you want out of a series, especially from Nintendo. That’s just life for you.

To me, Smash Melee is just a much worse version of Smash 64. I don’t make the rules! 🤷

How is it wasted when they literally give you the option to just race on the tracks? Also I see nothing wrong with Nintendo experimenting and trying new things. They said in that interview today that they didn’t want to just make another Mario Kart. The open world has single player content as well.

Why would they do that when the Wii U was a massive overwhelming failure but the Switch is the exact polar opposite? Of course the Switch 2 was gonna get a new DK game, same reason why it’s getting a new Mario Kart but the Switch 1 didn’t.

The amazing looking DK you miss in question:

It literally came out after 4 years of mostly nothing. This one game does not suddenly mean the Wii U was oozing with games prior to BOTW’s launch, especially when you look at the previous year, 2016, for the system.

Nintendo is releasing a brand new piece of tech. Microsoft and Sony are 5 years into their console lifespan where the prices should be close to half of what they were at launch, but they are going up. Naw, fuck Sony and Microsoft for doing something they didn’t have to do.
comment in response to post
Battle League is better than the original Strikers by a country mile, so this isn’t true at all
comment in response to post
Unfortunately every other 1st party game on the GameCube was garbage, hence why it was a massive failure. Nintendo has overall been WAY better with quality on their 1st party than in their past
comment in response to post
So the Switch 2 should have been $300 like the 8 year old Switch 1 is what you’re saying?
comment in response to post
Already not getting your wish. Record breaking preorder sales in multiple European countries. Also there is no universe where they will lower the price since the system itself is barely making a profit even at the $450 price. It’s a perfectly fine price anyway for what you get 🤷
comment in response to post
Which is selling worse than the PSVita, so it objectively is not competition in any way, shape, or form
comment in response to post
EXCEPT with the 50 dollars, you also get NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Genesis, access to DLC like the Booster Course Pass, online gaming with Gamechat, and Switch 2 edition upgrades to BOTW and TOTK. Saying you only get GC for $50 is EXTREMELY misleading, don’t you think!!
comment in response to post
It wasn’t free. You had to spend $50 more for that more expensive bundle to get Nintendo Land, in the same way that the more expensive Switch 2 bundle has Mario Kart World. In that case, MKWorld is a pack in title as well!
comment in response to post
At that point, I think it’s EXTREMELY safe to say you’re not a Nintendo fan. I can’t imagine how you enjoyed any Nintendo system of the past if your Nintendo game taste is THAT narrow?
comment in response to post
So what are the PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 to you?
comment in response to post
The Switch 1 is EIGHT years old. If anything, the Switch 2 is about 1-2 years too long of a wait. Is this your first time going through a console transition, because I think you need to make peace right now that consoles get replaced after a certain amount of time. No exceptions.
comment in response to post
You say that yet the 1st party game quality is the highest it’s ever been in Nintendo history. After the lows of the GameCube and Wii U, it’s refreshing to see them firing on all cylinders for 8 years straight! 🤷
comment in response to post
So in several years? You do that while I’ll enjoy the game on launch day 🤷
comment in response to post
Plays like cow shit compared to the objectively superior Wii U version
comment in response to post
The Switch 2 is gonna be a massive success no matter what, so you lose no matter what 🤷
comment in response to post
Did you even watch the trailer?? This is arguably the most different MK we have ever gotten since the original SNES game. It has a completely different structure to any other entry and is built like a Forza Horizon game. MKWii didn’t look that special, yet Wii’s flew off the shelf for that game.
comment in response to post
For the 1000th time, the Steam Deck is NOT competition for Nintendo. The Switch 1 sold more this past holiday season on its eighth year in the market than the SteamDeck has since it launched almost four years ago (4 million lifetime sales). It’s selling slower than the Wii U and PSVita.

The series that are “shells of their former selves” in question:
comment in response to post
For 140 million Switch owners, MK8DX was a new game
comment in response to post
Not even 10% of the first party library. You haters will literally lie through your teeth to prove a failed point huh?
comment in response to post
One thing I couldn’t help but notice is how you were completely wrong about everything you said about there being no exclusive games for the Switch 2. Confirms without a doubt you have a failed business degree!
comment in response to post
I’m pretty sure this direct wasn’t the strongest because the Switch is EIGHT years old and Nintendo has fully moved their big projects to Switch 2. The Switch 2 direct this upcoming Wednesday is what you’re looking for
comment in response to post
So what I’m guessing is that you care more about a colorful little menu that’s purpose is just to get you into your apps rather than the games themselves? Since this is what we were mostly playing in the Wii U/3DS era, it makes sense why you were in the main menu so much lmao

The games with personality you grew up with in question:
comment in response to post
There’s gotta be some kind of medical diagnosis for people who believe that Nintendo’s absolute biggest system seller in their entire arsenal will be cross gen with a system that already has a 70 million selling entry in said series and already pushed the system to the max. Failed business degree?
comment in response to post
How about the leaked specs that puts the Switch 2 as the biggest technological leap in graphics for Nintendo since the N64???
comment in response to post
If Mario Kart 10 is on Switch 1, there won’t be any demand for Nintendo to keep up with for Switch 2 period!!
comment in response to post
Sure there will be games on Switch 1 for 1-2 more years. Nobody is saying there won’t be anymore at all. What people are saying is that the big AAA games like Mario Kart, 3D Mario, 3D Zelda, etc are all moved fully to Switch 2. Smaller scale games are what Switch 1 owners should expect.
comment in response to post
I think a system that had some of Nintendo’s slowest and most disliked output in their history and its biggest game selling 30 times more on its successor was dead WAY before BOTW ever released. Dead means nobody cares about it, and people stopped caring about Wii U well before BOTW came out.
comment in response to post
They put it out on Wii U because they promised Wii U owners they would get the game, and never went back on that promise. Nintendo never promised Switch owners another 3D Mario nor Mario Kart, so it’s extremely safe to say that Switch 1 isn’t getting anymore ambitious titles. Smaller titles are fair
comment in response to post
1000% I would make my game exclusive to that handful of people, because I didn’t fail my business class and realize that eventually long term the Switch 2 will get close, if not match that 150 million install base, while putting MK10 on Switch 1 will make that 150 million install base dream dead!
comment in response to post
Actually I agree with you there because the Wii U is VERY close to the Switch in power, so Mario Odyssey might have been able to run on Wii U. The next 3D Mario however will absolutely NOT run on Switch 1. Bowsers Fury runs at 30fps on Switch, and the next Mario will be MUCH more ambitious than that
comment in response to post
(2/2) …are already on Switch 1, then he’ll never feel like he’s missing out. He will never ask for one and just get a PS5 or whatever instead. MK10 will still sell 60+ million while putting it on Switch 1 would result in lower MK sales due to slower Switch 2 adoption from no incentives to upgrade.
comment in response to post
Then he won’t be a year one buyer. You’re not gonna believe this but the Switch 1 only sold 14 million in its first full year. In about 3 years when the system peaks in popularity, his parents will buy him one with the Mario Kart and 3D Mario he’s always wanted. If those 2 games… (1/2)
comment in response to post
Yeah because then youll have a Mario 3D World situation where people weren’t very interested because the ambition of that game felt almost like an HD version of the 3DS game. They can’t go all out on 3D Mario in 2025 if it’s on Switch 1, and Nintendo is very serious about pushing 3D Mario to the max
comment in response to post
Actually it will prevent that from happening because little Timmy will see that he can play MK10 on his perfectly working Switch 1, so he doesn’t feel any pressure to push his parents to buy a Switch 2 if ever. Same goes for 80-90% of other gamers who don’t view 4k as an incentive to spend $400.
comment in response to post
There won’t be eventual exclusives, they will be there on day 1 with MK10 and this winter/fall with 3D Mario all fully exclusive to Switch 2 since these are Nintendo’s golden gooses and they want to impress as much as they can, which they can’t do anymore with a 10 year old chipset.
comment in response to post
You seem fixated on this idea that Nintendo cares about short term profit, when they care more about long term profit, because while MK10 won’t sell 60 million its first year on Switch 2, it will sell 60+ million over the course of the lifespan of Switch 2 when Switch 2 reaches 100+ million sales.
comment in response to post
You’re not gonna believe this, but games can’t sell if the hardware can’t sell, and the masses wont be very interested in the games even on Switch 1 if they still have the ambition of games made for a 10yo chipset that’s weaker than the 12yo PS4!! They will force people to buy a $400 Switch 2.
