Musk is only opposing the 'Big Beautiful Bill' because most of his wealth is tied up in Tesla, which is already tanking. The bill would end subsidies and tax credits meant to spur consumers to buy electric vehicles—directly threatening his bottom line.

My own brain tells me Vladimir Putin is a psychopath who reputedly ordered the murder of hundreds of Russians in order to win the presidency, wreaked devastation in Syria, assassinates his political enemies, and sponsored Brexit and Donald Trump's election.

Nuts really. Apart from specialised sectors, I don't know why one more fossil-fuel vehicle needs to be sold anywhere, certainly from 2027 onwards.
The electric alternatives are so much better now, and will soon be cheaper.
As it stands, there will be too many used FF vehicles around for 10yrs plus

The Brexit referendum was entirely David Cameron's sop to right wingers in his party - an attempt to keep the Conservatives together, with UKIP talking the issue up on the right.
It would not have happened under Labour.
EU membership was not previously on high on the list of voters' concerns.

It's been pretty much the same here in the UK.
The full impacts of the Conservatives' false economies, and their stupid Brexit, are only gradually becoming apparent.
Labour are going to need two full terms before the country really starts to realise the benefits from their sensible investments.

Could it be that you can't make ships, wind turbines or bullets out of universities?

I agree Justin Webb has been very poor recently, and I've pretty much stopped listening to Americast for that reason.
He places no importance on inspecting the deeper motivations or interests of Trump and his allies, or the damage they are doing to the rule of law and constitutional rights.

I always keep a family-pack of bourbons handy for this exact reason.

Reeves & Starmer's fear of problems in the bond markets is clearly well founded. If Labour were blamed for a major crash they could be out of power again for a generation.
They clearly will reverse the Tory two-child benefit cap, once the finances allow.

Steve Baker: "As soon as I apply, they know who I am, they do the Googling and they don’t want me."
Yes, because if they didn't already know, they discover you're a twat, a hypocrite, and a small minded idiot, who vehemently supported the economic disaster of Brexit.
