The very definition of evil is incarcerating for life in one of the worst hellholes on Earth men who did everything right. But it’s beyond evil—beyond demonic—to then not try to do anything to save the men you consigned to Hell, *and* to in fact libel and slander them daily when they cannot reply.

The Trump-Qatar Scandal saga continues. And it just gets worse and worse. PROOF brings the whole story together, with full sourcing, in a way no other media outlet has.

America is facing a crisis of eroded trust in Congress and other government institutions, partly due to members of Congress owning stock in the companies they regulate (or fail to regulate). We have a great solution: ban congressional stock trading.

The white rural reckoning: "Given the damage of Trump’s first-term agriculture tariffs, rural American farmers may have forfeited the right to express surprise or dismay about what’s happening to them — again."

It's bizarre how pundits and politicians cover Trump's second term with little mention of the first term, even though it's a direct extension. Just as they covered his first term as if it weren't a continuation of a lifetime in organized crime. They treat everything as disparate when it's one story.

It takes just minutes to read, but I promise it will blow your mind. The Trump-Qatar Scandal is about so much more than a damn plane—and Trump knows it. Even many in major media know it. I cannot explain to you, as a bestselling Trump biographer, why so many in D.C. are hiding what all of us know.

Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years. States are the only ones who can even try to regulate AI in the US, since Congress has been captured by Big Tech.

When has a sitting president ever accepted a gift from a foreign country worth nearly half a billion dollars? A better question — when has a president accepted a gift that he could then use in a presidential & personal capacity? I’ll discuss Trump’s latest grift at 6pm ET @thebeat.msnbc.com — TN

It's hard to adequately describe how scary it is to watch mainstream political journalists barely push back against a sitting U.S. president accepting a $400M plane from a foreign government that would literally be designated as an emergency command-and-control center during a nuclear war.

The largest bribe in American history.

Habeus Corpus is either suspended or not. It is NEVER suspended only for a certain subset. This is horseshit, and ANY member of Congress who agrees to allow suspension of HC is wholly complicit and needs to wear that like a fucking albatross for eternity. www.nbcnews.com/politics/imm...

Those who spent the last 5 years howling about Hunter Biden being on the board of a Ukrainian company on the grounds that he would not have been granted that position if Ukraine did not want to influence Joe Biden now say they believe the Qataris just want Trump to have nice things for no reason

For the umpteenth - but almost certainly not last time - the institutions of the American economy depend on the institutions of American democracy.

The Secretary of Comnerce is lying to the American public

I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

Scoop from @juliannemcshane.bsky.social: Elon Musk's DOGE has abruptly killed millions of dollars in congressionally mandated grants to support women in trades and STEM.

No notes. h/t @ianbremmer.com

Public broadcasters like PBS and NPR give every American access to culture, history, art, and trusted journalism. They’re a cornerstone of civic life. Defunding them does a disservice to us all, especially in rural communities. We must defend them.

The sleepwalk into authoritarianism continues

I can't get over this clueless asshole. I guess since trump gave him every job in government he thinks he's experienced enough to lecture... *checks notes* Germany (!) ...on how to deal with Nazis. The absolute ignorance is fucking breathtaking.

Germany's spy agency is keeping an eye on the (LITERAL) Nazi party. Nobody: " " rubio: "Watch me spin this into government overreach..."

It took a series of Caesars decades to destroy Rome. Trump’s gonna take America down in six months.

The human population is growing. Rapidly, in fact. It's projected to keep growing for decades and decades, until at least the year 2100. Then it will decline slightly, per experts, but to a level still well beyond today. What Musk means here but refuses to say is that _white_ fertility is declining.

1. This is a thread about why Food Waste is so often, and wrongly, identified as the major problem with the food system. Yes, it's an issue, but in the rich world, it's far smaller than many others. It’s massively over-emphasised, while other, far more important problems, are ignored and avoided. 🧵

In a case like this, you cuff the suspect in the front. Want to know why they declined to do so? Because they knew this was a photo op. These people are truly sick.

A hallmark of fascism is to attack the judiciary.

If you wonder how the criminal justice system is supposed to work, George Santos getting over 7 years in prison is it. And the crimes of Donald Trump exceed those of Santos by a factor of 100. Do the math.

Arne Sorensen would’ve done the same thing

Criminal convictions, ABREGO GARCIA: 0 Criminal convictions, DONALD TRUMP: 34

Hey, do you know what you call a guy who never admits a mistake, who becomes President of the United States by never admitting a mistake, who then convinces his entire presidential administration to never admit—let alone correct—any mistake, leading to innocents getting life sentences? A sociopath.

I understand what Judge Xinis is doing. She is building a factual record so that that record will be crystal clear when this case gets back to the Supreme Court. But I also know it is taking too long. Two weeks is too long. Keep in mind Bukele will just kill Garcia at the last moment if he has to.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.
