Technically, living in Scotland, I think I could join the GPEW to vote for Zack, but somehow it feels undemocratic. My hubby and I have discussed it. What do you all think?

The wonder of creativity is not only being devalued but also destroyed. When it's possible to take a short cut using AI, then how do we learn to be thinkers and creaters? Late in life I am appreciating what artists contribute to our society and what we will lose when we understand value it.

On this topic ....just to say my older primary school grandchildren and I have been reading " The boy at the Back of the Class" and sharing chat. What a wonderful book about a child refugee and what children can teach us about the power of kindness. The richness of life when you embrace diversity.

Very ignorant of AI and technology generally, and even I can spot a social media post written by ChatBT (is that what it's even called?)

We always suspected CCUS was a sop to the O+ G industry, because it makes no economic or climate sense. CCUS will keep our energy bills high and it is an unproven technology. The Scot Govt has a chance to stop Acorn and Peterhead gas plant, but unfortunately they are also in the trawl of O+G.

Unions have in fact been pushing gorr CCUS

I feel as if I have a bit of a cheek commenting because I live in Scotland and am not a member of GPEW, but these were my thoughts completely. Eco populism doesn't work without the Eco.

Renfrewshire aren't playing catch up yet. I have to take mine to Tesco's. But the big question is.....what happens to it then? Is it going to get burned in the monstrosity of an incinerator that is being built next to the M8.

We could do with these from Scotland. Not much prospect of this.

To be fair the UK Govt and the SNP Scot Govt are also intent on feeding the beast of energy company greed and putting up our bills with their support for Acorn CCS project. scitechdaily.com/carbon-captu...

UK Govt support for Israel's genocide is morally reprehensible. Ending the slaughter of Palestinians is a priority, but further than that, arming and giving cover to an out of control despot is putting us all at risk.

Are we seriously going to still give Trump a state visit?

It makes no environmental sense and no economic sense. Where is the fiscal prudence in spending tax payer's money on an expensive option that is completely unproven. scitechdaily.com/carbon-captu...

Unfortunately neither the UK or Scot Govt are great believers in facts and they would rather prop up polluting industries. The Scot Govt are refusing to release results of Acorn CCS feasibility study, but they are delighted it is being funded regardless. news.stv.tv/north/uk-gov...

Well done! Reform vote is still scarily high. Let's hope Starmer responds to the threat from the GPEW and changes course.

Exactly and the Scot Govt are likely to approve planning consent for the new gas plant in Peterhead and onshore infrastructure for CCS. Not only will we pay for the investment through our energy bills but we will also continue to pay inflated electricity prices whilst it is pegged to expensive gas.
comment in response to post
Please also encourage the Scot Govt to stop the Acorn project and the proposed new gas plant in Peterhead. The power to approve onshore development rests at Holyrood and all the signs are that the SNP Govt will support these climate wrecking developments. It's disingenuous to ignore this.

It's heartbreakingly sad that the UK Govt is prioritising fossil fuel company profits over our children's futures and lowering energy bills. It's embarrassing that they are ignoring scientific advice. The Scot Govt has a chance to stop Peterhead, but they are equally in thrall to big oil.

Before the election Reeves claimed she would be the first Green Chancellor. This was also a scam; she is anything but. This is a very sad decision. Here we are in the midst of climate breakdown and we have run out of time for false solutions.

There is a proposed solar park on depleted agricultural land adjacent to my village. It's supported by the community who want the developer to include a wildlife corridor to link 2 areas of woodland. The estate owner, however, wants to graze sheep. Land inequality in UK impacts nature restoration.
comment in response to post
Not only did the BBC not mention climate change in the article, it went out of its way to describe floods as a natural event during the rainy season, citing floods over the last few years as proof.
