we got a homeowner in the berkeley hills comparing the city proposing wildfire mitigation efforts - to literally 9/11 - all before grand theft auto VI

We are in a Civil War and we're not ready.

"It’s barely an exaggeration to say Trump plans to wage civil war against much of the population of the US. We’re in a profoundly dangerous moment, closer to disunion than at any point since the 1860s." Not everything is important, or urgent. This is both. publiccomment.blog/p/blue-citie...

With Trump essentially threatening military occupation in every major blue city, Democratic mayors, governors, legislators and councilmembers need a mutual defensive pact. publiccomment.blog/p/blue-citie...

Setting aside all Elon's bullshit, Tesla is a truly horrible company -- worse than most other carmakers, which are not exactly known for their concern for human ouves -- and needs to be completely shut down. www.instagram.com/reel/DK2X70O...

This is awful news, there should be no federal charges, it should be under the state of Minnesota's jurisdiction so we can still apply US laws. Letting Confederate traitors try their own assassins during an escalating Civil War is a horrible, horrible idea.

“Build more hotels” is a direct complement to “build more homes”.

This is, as ever, consumer narcissism masquerading as a political identity

some kinds of free transit are OK

😳😮😲. As the Joe Turns

BREAKING: California housing officials are coming out swinging at a proposal to roll back San Diego's ADU bonus program. HCD just sent a letter threatening to decertify the city's housing element and revoke its designation as a "prohousing" city. Story: www.kpbs.org/news/politic...

So there's clearly a problem here in that this is illegal under U.S. law. But the deeper problem is, what if this illegal action is not being carried out by the U.S.? What if we've really been defeated by Confederate traitors who are now waging war against the U.S.? How is this "illegal" ...

One of the really significant problems with union protection of civil servants, like police, is they not only don't have to comply with human rights or the Constitution, but are free to beat the shit out of people because they know the Police Union will get taxpayers to cover the lawsuit.

while you were busy watching the world burn, the world burned

There it is. The first ever Heat Advisory issued in Alaska. This is the first year it has been an option. @alaskawx.bsky.social

An activist thinks my concern about free bus fares is evidence that I’m trapped in a “consultant’s mindset.” Busy day for me, so for now I’ll just leave this here in case anyone wants to either defend or pile on.

IMO: I need to start working through edits today, but Jarrett's right that the costs of free buses far outweigh the benefits; and I think the advocates are really overly optimistic about said benefits.

this is true - but pales in comparison to resources required for cars tho

Thx, @brenttoderian.bsky.social for summing up most car discussions! I framed it for later use 😀

The reason Mike Allen got rich when he left the Post to found Politico was he hit the puck, then skated to where the puck was headed. The extent of fascist penetration of political journalism is extensive, and insurmountable at the national level. We invest massively in local media, or we lose.

Our “objective” media is indistinguishable from Fox, and Apple then forces that propaganda to the top of our phones

Some mistakes you can recover from. Some mistakes are the albatross you take to your grave.
