I think it could have done much better with earlier tooling, and a default implementation of ProtoReflectionService that stayed as "experimental" for years. Had lots of good conversations with the folks at buf.build when I advocating gRPC to be the standard for bethesda.net. Was an uphill battle.

Conversely, I am equally disappointed gRPC didn’t overtake bonkers JSON-REST designs.

One of those technologies that was just begging to be designed, floating around in every engineers’ head that dealt with build and deployment pipelines.
I remember doing a talk on it and how overlayfs worked at bethesda games in 2014; first time really “managing up” about technology.

this was really a great movie; fantastic casting all around
i remember conducting job interviews for ex-RIM engineers when it fell apart, they had a hard time; was a great employer so they had some lifelong experience in tech that was instantly obsolete

their lack of reflection is mind boggling to the point that if they ever had to come to terms with it, they might find themselves just, if not more, as lacking in self awareness as conservatives. It’s the same morality theatre.
