Once again, Teen Vogue is doing the journalism needs to be done. Thanks for your hard work just telling the truth while other news outlets orchestrate a baseless moral panic.

It feels like we skipped over the bit where someone explains - what we were trying to achieve in our 20-year Afghan War - why it was such a disastrous fuckup - why we continued even though we knew it was doomed by the mid-2000s - who was responsible, and - what negative consequences they faced.

It was all in Project 2025.

I’m sure FIRE will be all over this. apnews.com/article/orla...

The US & Chinese trade negotiators have negotiated a handshake agreement to seek signoff to agree that a previously-agreed agreement is still their agreed upon agreement. (That agreement is not an agreement but a framework for seeking future agreements.) www.wsj.com/economy/trad...

“Will the NYTimes ever stop blaming the victims? Experts differ on who the victims are”

the feigned outrage as always is cynical and calculating and completely forgotten a week later as stuff like the comey news cycle ended and a new feigned outrage gets promoted

I know I'm kind of a broken record with this right now, but: For all the horror, the political situation looks SIGNIFICANTLY better right now than it did a week or even a few days ago. Military occupation of blue cities is a travesty but it was a travesty we already EXPECTED of these fascists.

A few years ago I re-read a right-leaning book about "the university" and how it had gone wrong. The authors cited four courses at Stanford that were supposedly representative of a new spirit of left-wing groupthink (what would later be termed "wokeness"). (1/5)

It’s not just that it’s clearly intentional, it’s that it’s clearly intentional knowing that he’s being recorded. They know they can do whatever they want with complete impunity.

LAPD when they think no one’s looking

Taking potshots at the freedom of the press in the midst of going after the right of the people peaceably to assemble.

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

American cops are, without a doubt, undertrained. That's also, to a fair extent, irrelevant to what we're seeing here. An officer deliberately aiming a firearm at a reporter and pulling the trigger isn't a matter of training. It's a matter of "the cops want to shoot reporters"

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at our phones

I blame the non-voters and the mainstream media (tied for first). Second, the white male voters really need to get their sh!t together. Guys, stop falling for the misogyny & racism.

The lads did at least feel sort of honour bound to kind of half-apologise for fucking up over the Iraq War, and the lesson they learned is: never apologise, every second you spend addressing the reality of what you’ve done is time you spend losing, change the subject and attack attack attack.

Give the photographer the Pulitzer Prize

“A 2010 study that analyzed 40 years of protest coverage in five major newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, found that the papers depicted protests — even peaceful ones — as nuisances rather than as necessary functions of democracy.”

I mourn for the loss of Jewish Europe, yes, but probably even more for the loss of Jewish Cairo and Jewish Baghdad. Most people don’t know that the largest demographic group of Jews in Israel are Jews descended from Iraqi, Egyptian, Libyan Jews.

Supreme Court lets incompetent, teenage racists who submit to a ketamine-addicted billionaire white supremacist gobble up all our data to be shared with companies like Palantir and others. Awesome.

not enough said about how, by turning the national government against states on the basis of ordinary political disagreement, trump is undermining the idea that the union is worthwhile. www.cnn.com/2025/06/06/p...

To put it in context, Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Scotland. It is about 1300 m high. If you climb Ben Nevis 5X in a row you get to Everest base camp

Pretty sure Rahm Emanuel and James Carville have rung up Melon Skum and offered to be intermediaries. For a fee.

Any Dem politician or strategist who "sees an opening to get closer to Musk" or suggests that Dems do so should be launched into the sun (but not using SpaceX, they will never get there).
