American cops are, without a doubt, undertrained.
That's also, to a fair extent, irrelevant to what we're seeing here.
An officer deliberately aiming a firearm at a reporter and pulling the trigger isn't a matter of training. It's a matter of "the cops want to shoot reporters"

the american experience of protest over the past ten years is that police are too often poorly trained when it comes to journalist protection. harassment to detentions to injuries, they fail basic rules. it's one of those under-reported outrages for a country that claims to embrace free speech.

Let’s talk about POBAR and the ability of California police to act with impunity.
There are a couple of wild counter examples to this
The NYT reported recently that the NY police were as likely to shoot themselves and bystanders rather than villains
This is something cops should be screened for and why every other police force in the world doesn’t provide blanket immunity.
Accountability for police actions is appropriate. Checks & balances.
Just be racist and know how to use a gun! 👍😎
It is well documented that police are being trained to kill civilians, that the mindset is them against the horde. That they will murder a citizen and then have " the best sex of your life."

Why does everyone say that? Have you looked? Have you compared?
We pour massive funds into police training. Police reform has been America's mega project for 3 decades. Cities spend most of their budgets on police.
The problem is training makes no difference. Reform doesn't work
Flash bang robo-cops
Rules of Engagement should be set up by senior officers and adhered to
