i just find this so bizarre. searching through texts and doing the reading for myself is how i actually think through ideas! trying to put together a sentence is how i figure out what i actually want to say!

Not a bad day

This one goes out to all the people asking me what I have against Andrew Cuomo. This has been his M.O. for literally 48 years, except that in the 1977 (losing) mayoral campaign for his father, it was homosexuality, not antisemitism, that was the target of his last-ditch demonization campaign.

It is extraordinarily weird watching him conveying a single, cohesive thought for more than five seconds here. It really does show you that, while his heart as always been several shades deeper than vantablack, there's something medically wrong with his brain at this point.

Having a bit of a hard time with the concept that if a guy in a police uniform who has a police vehicle shows up I should lock the doors and call 911, but if a guy in a ski mask with an hGH gut appears to be kidnapping my neighbor, I shouldn’t ask who he is if I don’t want federal charges.

Iran: Weeks away from having nuclear weapons since 1995

And the person who turned up to support him with no notice is the Muslim dude who have cross endorsed each other and who the msm has been going into overtime to cast him as antisemitic

Naturally, these will be presented in mid-November and not on the Oscars telecast. I mean, who would want to watch [checks notes] Tom Cruise and Dolly Parton get honorary Oscars? variety.com/2025/film/aw...

Jake Tapper is gonna have a hell of a book on this in four or five years. bsky.app/profile/newr...

they are appealing to the Points Master. he reads their posts and gives them points, which are redeemable for snacks

*Chuck Schumer as he’s being dragged away by ICE agents* “We shouldn’t allow ourselves to be distracted by this latest spectacle by the Trump administration”

I got a lot of requests, so here’s a gift link to my latest newsletter, about Democrats’ obsession with calling everything Trump does a “distraction.”

NYT writers keep doing this weird thing where they abase themselves and then crow on Bluesky, “Ooooooh, aren’t you upseeeettttt?”

Donald Trump refuses to be the President of all Americans because he doesn't think people who disagree with him are real Americans at all.

America's secret police just detained a guy who might be Mayor of New York City and his NYPD escort. We have to abolish ICE. That should be the baseline Democratic Party position.

it is genuinely insane that we have just kind of acclimated to the fact that we have masked secret police now

Rewatching 28 DAYS LATER and it’s very cool that both Murphy and Harris, who were both unknowns at the time of release, have had successful careers.

Maybe there’s a story somewhere in #F1TheMovie but I certainly couldn’t find it under everything trying to sell me on F1. Neat racing scenes, tho.

#Elio isn’t bad, but that’s the thing with Pixar movies lately. You just say, “Eh, not bad,” and then you forget they existed.

It would be fun if an outlet like this framed the story with the context that filmmakers used to change edits all the time as movies rolled out to new and bigger markets, but that don’t get the clicks.

At yesterday's protests in Atlanta, police arrested the respected journalist Mario Guevara—clearly ID'd as press and, crucially, known for tirelessly documenting ICE abuses—for livestreaming their crackdown. He was booked on charges of "obstruction" and "pedestrian walking on or along" a roadway.

For a lot of relatively comfortable Americans, electing an emotionally incontinent imbecile was a bit of entertainment. A game. Good sport, owning those libs. I hope they’re duly entertained.

ELIO isn’t a horror film, but it has several scenes that provide a glimpse of what Pixar would do if they made a horror film.

I’m sure it looks “bad” but also, it’s history. People today should have a better understanding of why this was a cultural sensation in 1977.

Incredible levels of self-parody

The Times saying last year they'd no longer endorse candidates in local elections, then immediately being like "oh but not THAT guy" 10 months later because the candidate wants free buses gives away the whole game. "Objectivity" means you break your own rules to punch left as much as you want.

A.G. Sulzberger saw a man suffer consequences for sexually abusing junior staff and decided we couldn't have that happen again.

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.

I had the same reaction. Mamdani is such a threat in their view that they had to essentially reverse their non-endorsement policy. If Cuomo was cruising to victory, I doubt this piece would be written.

I don’t know what this “our Heartland” shit is. He’s lived in New York and Florida his entire life.

Given the success of live-action How to Train Your Dragon, it’s only a matter of time until live-action Bee Movie.

Invited LB crew + contributors to write about our favorite cinematic fathers. I wrote about Morpheus (trust me, it makes sense). Read about all the picks here: boxd.it/2zU

liberal media is so desperate to find the Good Conservatives that they’ll take a premise that’s basically “this Supreme Court Justice is slightly more moderate than her colleagues” and present it as though she’s some sort of enigmatic rogue.

The last time nyc had a mayor who tried to mildly reign in police violence they doxxed his daughter so

Had to scroll down for over a minute to “Most Shared” where a rundown of the protests is #1. But boy you wouldn’t know it! Like 20 articles about Amy Coney Barrett though

I wanted to write about Brian Wilson, whose struggles resonate with me, so I wrote this. There may be more underrated music biopics out there, but, today, this is the one I hope people watch.

One of the reasons AOC inspires people is that she doesn’t view her job as a stepping stone or that politics is an end in and of itself.
