Other institutions of our society are being stripped of their independence, their ability to withstand political pressure to conform to whims of one era or leader. This anti-democratic energy in higher Ed can only be suppressed by democratic action of university faculty.

Both are also related to anti-DEI initiatives. Whatever one thinks of those, tying the mission of higher education to a political agenda through state power- and not by the schools themselves choosing to go that route - is deeply troubling.
