Ah yes, autism, the condition that famously leads to rigid conformity and the following of social expectations. I guess she must not have any agency after all.

Although, to be fair, because she is politically savvy, she is able to take advantage of people's assumptions about her in cases like this.

I think that stuff is well meaning but its falling into the same sexist ways of thinking, people just can't accept a young woman being a savvy political operator, she must either be an innocent victim or a naive rube of someone else.

This sort of thing has had incredible efficacy historically! You do something the public will see as completely innocent but that you know will cause your opponents to crack down on you, its Rosa Parks, its Gandhi, its tried and tested.

Its wild that they will write her off as naive for doing textbook non-violent civil disobedience. Its super clear from the pre-recorded video that she expected to be arrested. Yet because she's a young woman people seem to just assume she's an idiot.

Apparently she wasn't planned as a major character but Dulau was just so good they wrote more material for her.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if part of this is just that young people are more likely to lie to pollsters.

Have you seen the Alex Avila video?

The transition from it into Here Comes the Sun on Abbey Road is just exquisite.

Of course, as the tweet spells out, the real plan is just to go after anyone who seems too masculine.

The thing is the guidance doesn't really allow any clear way of checking someone's sex anyway. You can get your id changed with a GRC, and even genital checks wouldn't get those who've had bottom surgery. There's literally no way to identify trans people from cis people.

We've suddenly sunk to the rules republicans in swing states aren't sure about.
comment in response to post
Its just so transparent that the rest of the documentation is top down imposition of rules but when the question of where do they actually go comes up its just ooh maybe they could get a separate thing, idk, if services want to make that, no worries if not of course. Fuck off.

Trans men must be banned from the mens and can be banned from the womens and vice versa for trans women, but then they suggest maybe there could be a third space ("where possible") for them to use? Do they expect new bathrooms will be put in everywhere in addition to the existing ones?

The view of the court is, in effect, that the gender recognition act provides a long, multi-step bureaucratic process for excluding yourself from all single sex spaces of either sex.
comment in response to post
We have a whole multi-step medical panel process to get a GRC which the gender recognition act says makes you legally change your sex. But apparently now it doesn't make you legally change your sex, but you can be excluded from spaces for your birth sex too now.

I think there is a lot to learn from it strategically, but I'd primarily focus on how to force media to actually include a pro-trans perspective rather than endlessly workshopping what that perspective ought to say.
comment in response to post
Honestly I do think a lot of pro-trans messaging is poorly thought through, but its hard to make the case that it lost the argument when it was barely ever able to get a word in.

He's literally doing a liberal centrist argument here.

Is this how you find success in Nashville now?

Admittedly only vaguely know who he is, but he does have an all-timer wikipedia biography section title:

Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying. They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks. From WCVB: youtu.be/PuFIs7OkzYY
