I didn't know there was a book. The Netflix show is very popular with 4-year-olds.

That's how elections work. The party in power 10 years ago wanted an economy based on high-paid, high-skilled engineering jobs. The party in power now wants an economy based on low-paid, low-skilled fossil fuel extraction jobs.

The UK can rejoin the EU but the damage to America's credibility will last forever.

You were being extremely rude for no reason when I had never interacted with you before. That indicates you had some kind of emotional response. I guess the other possibility is you are just a very rude person who is unpleasant to interact with. bsky.app/profile/lawl...

Then why were you so angry at me for pointing out that Newsom was on podcasts with them?
comment in response to post
What are you upset about?

Trump is such a gift to the Chinese Communist Party. He's torching 80 years of America's work building alliances in the Pacific & handing all the power to Xi Jinping.

I was apparently wrong about the details, but those details actually helps my argument. If you're angry about a liberal going on a right-wing podcast, you should be even angrier about a liberal inviting them on his podcast.
comment in response to post
Are any of those podcasts willing to let them on? I don't think they would turn any down if they were invited.
comment in response to post
Are there any examples of lib-brownism? There's a zillion examples of people on the far-left crossing over to the far-right, but I can't think of anyone on the center-left doing that.

Governor Newsom went on Kirk & Bannon's podcasts, and those people are much worse than Hanania. This politics of refusing to talk to anyone on the other side doesn't work.
comment in response to post
I don't think he's associated with the movement. He just has a podcast that one of them went on. Pete Buttigieg goes on Fox News. We shouldn't be attacking everyone that talks to conservative media. We have to expand the tent.
comment in response to post
There was a viral post a few days ago showing that like 90% of popular podcasts were right-wing. If you want to get your message out to a wider audience through podcasts, you can't limit yourself to the tiny number of left of center podcasts.

The screenshot is allegedly 7 years old. Did you take this 7 years ago and then decide to release it now?

"genetic inferiority" is a wild leap from a post that never mentioned genetics.
comment in response to post
Can you give examples of people like that? I don't think it's realistic to deplatform everyone with views like that, but I think someone who posted something like that would at least need to apologize & explain themselves before being accepted as a democratic strategist.
comment in response to post
*Enraged by them You're like the right-wing idiots on Twitter who get enraged by pronouns. Also the people on both platforms that go after people's physical appearance. Those are also easy blocks. Social media is only tolerable if you block the trolls & bigots
comment in response to post
I got 6 blocks out of this so I'm happy. Can more of you people obsessed with avatars post here so I can block you. I want you out of my feed.
comment in response to post
I like having the default avatar because people who obsess over avatars are always idiots that have nothing useful to say. It makes it easy to identify people to block. It's similar to having pronouns on Twitter. The people who get engaged by by them are never worth talking to so they're easy blocks

You want Democrats to lose because you see politics as a form of self-expression rather than a way to influence governance in the country. Keep voting for Green party candidates that get 0.3% of the vote so you can enjoy feeling superior to people who live in the real world.
comment in response to post
You can explain your position instead of just insulting people.
comment in response to post
If you've defined "white supremacist" as anyone whose made an offensive comment in their life, then it includes the vast majority of Americans including most Black & Hispanic Americans.
comment in response to post
If people outside this bubble of anonymous Twitter accounts find the allegations credible, I'm sure he will be asked about it soon.
comment in response to post
I get that you want Republicans to win, but why don't you come out and say it openly instead of playing these games?
comment in response to post
The difference between us is that I want the Democrats to win even if that means our coalition includes people I disagree with. If you prioritize ideological purity over winning elections, you don't care about how the country is governed. That comes from a position of extreme privilege.
comment in response to post
You're claiming no one has ever created a fake social media account with someone else's picture? That's a pretty common thing to do. There are thousands of fake Twitter accounts with Trump & Musk's profile pictures selling fake crypto coins. Every prominent account has fake spam knockoff accounts.
comment in response to post
It's a private group. "Public" is the opposite of "private". What is your goal? You want to prove that the Democrats are racist too so Trump is no worse than the Democrats? It's that kind of nihilism that got us in our current situation.
comment in response to post
Your definition of "publicly" is "multiple people can see it". That is not a standard definition. Is your definition of "obsessing", mentioning something once 7 years ago?
comment in response to post
We know that David Shor does not "publicly obsess" over this because we can see all his public interviews and public posts. The question is whether he said something bad in private 7 years ago. Even if this private post is legit, it's definitely not "publicly obsessing*.
comment in response to post
You didn't make any real arguments for your accusations against him. If your claim is that not only all Republicans but most Democrats are racists and should be spat at on the street, you have no path to having any say in how this country (or any country) is governed.
comment in response to post
It's funny that the most prominent example of an Internet racist whose been partially rehabilitated is 100% Arab (Richard Hanania).
comment in response to post
Do you have any real arguments?
comment in response to post
What does that have to do with genetics? That's completely compatible with mainstream views that race is just a cultural construct. Non-European immigrants in Europe do have higher crime rates than native born Europeans, but I doubt it has anything to do with genetics.
comment in response to post
Is there more to this David Shor leak than the screenshot in this thread. I don't see any mention of IQ or genetics anywhere. I don't like what he allegedly wrote in the screenshot, but it doesn't say any of the awful things you're claiming. Race is a social construct.
comment in response to post
I don't understand the leap you're making here. The original screenshot doesn't mention genetics at all.
comment in response to post
None of this means anything to me. It's anonymous people on the Internet vouching for anonymous people on the Internet. I'm not saying you're lying. I just have no idea either way. That's a downside to being anonymous. I'll wait for real people to weigh in.
comment in response to post
You all immediately realized that it was a picture of Shor, so the picture was clearly enough without a name. I have no idea what Shor looks like but his enemies clearly do.
comment in response to post
You have to reach out to the other side a bit if you want to win elections. Trump is very racist, but half of the electorate (including most Hispanic men) support or at least accept that level of racism. It's easy to demand purity but you can't win elections that way.
comment in response to post
Lots of people get in trouble for things they said with anonymous social media accounts. If you're framing someone for inflammatory online posts, it makes sense it would be an anonymous alt account. I'm not saying I think he was framed, just that it's plausible.
comment in response to post
Yes. I think I would lean that way in your position. The argument currently replies mostly on personal trust, and there isn't anyone on your side of the argument that I personally trust. If more concrete evidence comes out or people I trust more take your position, I will update accordingly.

I can see why people might try to hide Bill Clinton's indiscretions because he is a once in a generation talent. I can even kind of understand why Democratic staffers hid Biden's decline, even though it was bad for the party & country. Ezra Klein was one of the early voices against that.
comment in response to post
What would be the motivation? None of Shor's data analysis seems that special. There are quite a few other people who could do the same thing.
comment in response to post
The 7 years does make the framing theory less likely. Is there any way to prove it was 7 years ago? Why would a fake Twitter DM convo be easier to fake than a fake Facebook convo?
comment in response to post
Yes. I don't think anyone would try to frame Shor, but there are a lot of weird people in the world so it seems plausible that someone hates Shor enough to do it. It requires very little effort to do it so I can't rule it out.
comment in response to post
I get why that would be convincing. From my perspective, it's anonymous internet people touching for other anonymous internet people. I don't know know much about Shor, but I just listened to him on Ezra Klein. If Shor is a bad guy, why isn't it known to people like Ezra Klein who platform him?
comment in response to post
It would also be pretty stupid to use a known picture of yourself for an alt account you don't want leaked. I also wouldn't expect a 32 year old to use Facebook. I don't think anyone would try to frame Shor, so I my guess is he's being stupid & careless, but I'm not sure either way.
comment in response to post
That seems like pretty weak evidence. What is the original source of the image?

What counts as "leading to AGI"? The biggest AI models 10 years ago were vision models. Then reinforcement learning models were dominant for a few years, before switching to LLMs. Chain-of-thought probably won't be the last paradigm shift, but progress continues.

They don't need to go outside in the summer aside from the pool or beach. They drive around in their air conditioned cars.
