Gam Silroy has the current City lore:

biden begging cuomo not to run because 2020 is his last chance to become president and cuomo agreeing to hold off because he thinks he can run any time he wants

Ukraine is going to incredible lengths to avoid conscripting teenagers and Russia is only deploying volunteers inside Ukraine.

Found this incredible image of Jon Ossoff (Han Solo) from when he ran for Congress.

Ghosting me for 4 months cause you got a girlfriend, which caused us to miss a deadline to submit a screenplay outline that I only finished so I could say I didn't waste my time. Only for your ass to get dumped and you crawl back to me asking to see the outline. Fuck you bitch, cope.

Actively rooting for deportation is weird, racist, and immoral. Just because y'all feel comfortable using the word "alien" for AVP memes and hate Elon (as we should) doesn't make rooting for the inherently evil practice for the lols any better. Makes me wonder how many slurs y'all say in private.

FINALLY! Hi! This is my very first article for a real publication! A month of work and 7 viewings later so I hope I got it right somewhat. Lol If you can, please enjoy this semi-organized rambling of why Nia DaCosta's foray into the MCU deserves more love! www.cultureslate.com/editorials/d...

six million californians voted for this bozo

There's a reasonable argument to be made—one that I hear consistently from people in the markets—that Powell might well be cutting now if it weren't for Trump (and Bessent) making such an issue of Fed independence. Powell of course adamantly denies that the politics influence him.

it's interesting how so many of the pundits who, under Biden, were absolutely sure that low inflation was the most politically important economic factor, are totally silent when Trump demands explicitly inflationary policy. No one is like "Trump is making a huge error asking for lower rates!"

Amazing. Respect the lede.

right wingers saw all the evidence that trump had ties to epstein, they just needed to hear it from a guy who lies all the time to believe it

If I was rich I would be doing important cultural work, like funding a recreation of Paul Simon's 'You Can Call Me Al' music video starring Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk and Charlie Cox's Daredevil. Yes full costumes. #MCU #whatif

I think the problem with this Hulk is that he looks like the Hulk but not like Edward Norton. The Ruffalo Hulk looks like Ruffalo, and the Ford Hulk looked like Ford and Maslany too. This Hulk looks like an Abercrombie model.

I say this because -- look -- who knows what Musk ultimately does. His brain 50% mushroom. The right political move is for Democrats to tell Musk he can go choke on it and die for all they care.

Simon Pegg and Chris Doohan in STAR TREK (2009)

‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’ was released on this day 43 years ago! (June 4, 1982) 🖖🏼 Directed by Nicholas Meyer. Starring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Walter Koenig, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Ricardo Montalbán, & more. [📽 Paramount Pictures] #OnThisDay

‘Star Trek III: The Search for Spock’ was released on this day 41 years ago! (June 1, 1984) 🖖🏼 Directed by Leonard Nimoy. Starring William Shatner, Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Walter Koenig, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Christopher Lloyd, Merritt Butrick, & more. #OnThisDay #StarTrek

With all the dumb stuff happening in the world right now, it's hard to remember that people did important things once. Like Lt. James Doohan, Royal Canadian Artillery, who was shot by Nazis six times during the D-Day landing on June 6, 1944.🇨🇦

On the 81st anniversary of D-Day, here's your annual reminder that - two decades before he became Star Trek's Scotty - James Doohan was one of many Allied troops who risked their lives to invade Normandy. He was also wounded during the conflict.

1984 was the first chance as a newly minted voter to vote against that old fool.

(TW!) ⚠️ NYT : “An air strike Israel says targeted a military center hit a former school where dozens of families were sheltering… 18 children killed… the 5yo girl in the burning building survived, but lost both her parents and her sister…” Heartbreaking. Full: www.instagram.com/reel/DKj4Inx...

Is it a cliche to say they found the waste, fraud, and abuse?

goooood morning it is bright and a little warm, but this housebear got the last bite of my walking breakfast and sharing is caring - so Lucy Loved That Walk

If Maria Bartiromo were any more pathetic as a journalist, she'd be Lorrie Goldstein.

What a clusterfuck! Hasn’t the big executive heard of “supervision?” www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Nothing like his son.

America did not storm the beaches at Normandy alone on June 6, 1944. We had allies who fought with us. Allies from Britain, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), and Poland. open.substack.com/pub/charlies...

How to deflect criticism that you, as mayor, were nowhere to be seen as your police force cooperates with the feds: criticize the leaders who DO show up for their community. (No paywall on that Strib story, btw)

His name is Edward Coristine. He is from Connecticut. He has broccoli hair.

This is a TERRIBLE message. @repmoskowitz.bsky.social is generally good. But he should not be joking about Big Balls, making light of it. This is deadly serious. Big Balls killed people, devastated America’s future economy, and broke laws. Democrats should say Big Balls needs to be prosecuted.

Had to figure out why Big Balls was trending.

I resent having to seriously consider the political affiliations of people named Big Balls and Catturd.

Who could have predicted

Stumbled across Doctor Who Magazine 468 and reread @drmatthewsweet.bsky.social's article on Bunny Webber and his 1958 panto Out of the Frying Pan, of which Richard Martin, who was in it, said, "It's where it [DW] came from." Some poking around turned up this nice, if small, photo. IDs in alt text.
