@simonwillison.net Another thing about AI energy usage is that if a user is completing projects 10x faster, then isn't their overall energy expenditure lower? That's less time spent microwaving lunches, driving to and from work, borrowing coworkers' energy, using other energy-intensive resources etc

My Subaru Outback has all the hardware necessary for High Beam Assist but it's software locked.. Used ChatGPT Deep Research to research and confirm, but fixing it still needs an unholy combination of a custom ODBII cable + ancient software. Oh well, I'll just keep doing it manually like a chump
