Either the Director of National Intelligence lied in her testimony before Congress, or Trump is lying now. It is that simple. Will any Republicans in Congress say a word? Nope. Will media splash huge stories about it and lead with it? Nope. Just another day in Trump’s America.

"They have it now where — have you seen it? — the bullets can go back into the guns. Zip. It's new. It's called: Tenet. And it's perfect. My generals keep telling me that we can use Tenet. So that's what we're going to do."

At least 15 people, including an American citizen, were killed and 114 were injured in a massive overnight attack on Kyiv, marking the deadliest strike on the Ukrainian capital this year. wapo.st/4408pJO

NEW: One longtime federal law enforcement official used the word "staggering" to describe the level of threats against elected legislators in America =====>

🇺🇸❌ Trump administration shelved an inter-agency working group to pressure Russia into speeding up peace talks with Ukraine, - Reuters ❗️The effort, established in spring, lost steam in May as participants realized Trump wasn’t interested in a confrontational stance toward Moscow.

Bartiromo: "The Senate Finance Committee unveiling the text of President Trump's bill ... it includes even steeper Medicaid cuts than the House called for." (Trump has repeatedly claimed that the bill doesn't cut Medicaid. Oops.)

I think this oversimplifies the story. NYT is read by elites, and is a major agenda setter for the msm writ large. It, at least plausibly, has the capacity to shape the broad tenor of coverage which does ultimately filter down to voters

"I'd heal you if you were more in favor of taking food and medicine from the poor." --GOP Jesus www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I don't think I would call this post that was on a Pennsylvania's sheriff's personal facebook page of a truck with the idea that the person driving is killing protesters a "meme," but that's just me. www.pennlive.com/news/2025/06...

Good morning. If the the Senate passes the Republican budget bill, 40% of American families - those with lower and middle incomes - will LOSE money. They will become poorer. But the richest families will get an average $270,000 tax cut. Because they only care about the rich.

Trump was just at the G-7 claiming he signed a deal between the US and the UK, thinking they were still part of the EU. Then he dropped the paper on live TV so everyone could see he signed a blank sheet of paper. But sure, Jake. Biden age = Bush falsely claiming Iraq had WMDs.

My company pays for a service called DeleteMe to get rid of our personal information on these types of sites. It's time for that to become a much more common practice in public-facing roles, imo.

Trump wants to frame this as a conflict between “real” America and the not-quite-American cities. But it’s just the opposite. Our cities ARE America, and even the suburbs are getting more urban all the time. That’s just what he’s afraid of. paulwaldman.substack.com/p/when-trump...

I try to limit my news intake to stay (relatively) sane, but subscribe to Aaron's newsletter. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in good journalism and analysis.

"The Only Democracy in the Middle East" is arresting protesters for wearing "Stop The War" t-shirts. One officer said the slogan "is something that's illegal to have on a shirt." Gift link www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

Harry Enten on Trump's bill: "The amount of disapproval for this bill -- holy cow, my goodness gracious! We're talking about 29 points underwater ... we're talking about a negative 41 net favorability rating among independents. You rarely ever see proposed pieces of legislation as unpopular"

If we had proper data privacy laws that regulated and limited data brokers, we wouldn't need to pay for services like this - the status quo is a creation of legislative refusal to act, not an inevitability

This is unfathomably shameful. How do we even have to debate this? Why would anyone ever again be so foolish as to trust or help the United States if this is how we treat people who risk their lives on our behalf?

Q: What was the thinking on the call for Tehran to evacuate? Is there a threat or incoming? TRUMP: No not at all. I want people to be safe. And that's always possible. A thing like that could happen.

Oppositionally-defiant low-information people riled up by grifter influencers, wellness and political, who made rejection of vaccines an article of right-wing identity during COVID — and who have since rejected efficacious medicine by association, and elected clowns who affirm their delusions.

Keep this kind of detail in mind as you listen to those in US calling for war on Iran.

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

Collins: "What did [Mike Lee] have to say?" Sen. Tina Smith: "Honestly, I don't think this is a person who is used to being confronted. I don't think he's someone who is used to being challenged and I think he didn't quite know what to do."

Trump raked in $57M from his family's crypto company in 2024. And this doesn't even account for his memecoin, which launched this year. Now he's lending his name to "Trump Mobile," a new wireless phone service launched by the Trump Organization. The grift never ends.

The Senate Majority leader is lying

It's pretty notable that mainstream, establishment discourse never ever ever considers giving liberal politicians credit for crime reductions. It's almost axiomatic that if crime goes down under a center-left leader it's either unremarked upon, or must be driven by something else.

Raskin on Trump's corruption: "Whatever kind of varnish they had from the first administration is completely off now. They're not even pretending to do anything else ... it's a gangster state."

This one is so completely plausible that it’s not really satire.

Trump realizes people are turning on him, which means he will get more desperate, aggressive, extreme, and violent. These are all actions of a weak regime and weak man.

Remember this? Does the @nytimes.com remember this?

Orwellian www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u...

One of the many reasons I think it's important to refer to Trump's movement as fascist is that it allows us to connect incidents like the assassinations in Minnesota with things like January 6th. Trump and his networked brown-shirts are both part of the fascist plot to destroy democracy.

Boelter's "POLICE" license looked janky, as you can see in this slide. And yet even after a cop encountered him in his car, he was able to drive away, head to Melissa Hortman's house, and murder her and her husband

“.. ‘I was thinking about our country, and what’s happening, and just turning it over in my mind.’ .. And then: ‘I wrote it, and I said, ‘That’s true.’” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/b...

holy shit -- acting US attorney Thompson details that Boelter went to the homes of two other elected officials after shooting Hoffman but before going to Hortman's house. One cop encountered him at the third house but thought he was a police officer.

Republicans - Democrats are vile subhuman demons and good Christian citizens should fear them and be prepared to take up arms against this menance Democrats - well you're entitled to your point of view but can we perhaps work on this bipartisan legislation to deregulate crypto banking scams?

So Trump family says they're going to stand up a new mobile phone factory and have a new phone in production in three months and basically all the mainstream press is saying, yep, sounds legit. Can't wait to see it. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/just-...

The VA can now deny service to veterans if they are unmarried or registered as Democrats, the British newspaper The Guardian reports, citing a memo it obtained. It will be interesting to see how much, if any, coverage this gets in major American news outlets. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Great line here: "Considered individually, defendants’ legal arguments are meritless. Considered in the aggregate, they are terrifying."

If you want an example of the failings of Community Notes, look no further than Musk spreading misinfo in the hours after the Minnesota shooting. The shooter has now been IDed as a Trump supporter. There is no community note on Musk or the original post he quotes.

Bill Ackman just donated *another* $250,000 to the pro-Cuomo super PAC. He's now the third-biggest donor to Fix the City. 1. Mike Bloomberg: $5,000,000 2. Doordash: $1,000,000 3. Ackman: $500,000 4. Daniel Loeb: $350,000 5. Matthew Hulsizer: $300,000 www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Calls for civility are meaningless when her colleagues Mike Lee and Bernie Moreno are lying that the assassin was a leftist. They’re fueling hatred on the right while she’s taking the high ground.

BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts (the Reagan-appointed William Young) has declared the Trump administration's cuts to NIH grants — ostensibly over Trump's EOs on gender ideology and DEI — are "illegal" and "void." He's ordering many grants restored.
