I did as you asked. Now what?

Yes. Rainforests, specifically. And I said that “supposed to be” was doing a lot of heavy lifting. Why are the British Isles “supposed to be” covered in rainforests?
comment in response to post
You say ‘original forest’... 25,000 years ago there weren’t forests. Nature≠forest. What about wetlands & grasslands?! Depletion of nature (not forests) in UK is down to land management practices, habitat loss, pest/herbicide use and pollution of last 2-300 years, mostly.

I think we all know that, but that is kind of part of being a part of the industrialised West: “supposed to be” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. You also need to think of the British Isles as being a very small part of Western Europe, but also the most populated part of it.

Literally, no.

You’ve posted this rubbish image and you’re getting snippy at people calling you on it telling them to do their own research? Really?

Found this post fascinating. Are you really John Tweedie? I think I have an ancestor called John (also James) Tweedie, botanist & garden designer, who corresponded with Darwin. Coincidence? 🧐

Yup. No election in Norfolk County Council this year. Most county councils either elect the whole council once every 4 years, or one-third of the council every year, with a break in year 4, if that makes any sense. UK local govt is nothing if not inconsistent. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

There weren’t local elections everywhere, so you may be registered to vote in an area without an election.

Wait. What? *THE* Robin Ince? In Haddenham? And at the same time in Hungerford? Is that quantum?

Well, really it’s because it’s ten to ten in Greenwich; meantime it’s 2:36 in Kathmandu.

Please don’t abbreviate his name. How am I supposed to mute “T”, FFS?

Which news sources have integrity?
comment in response to post
Totally this. I mute every word that I think is indicative of US politics, and my discover feed is STILL about 75% US politics. And 24% swans for some reason.

Dear BlueSky algorithm, The picture I posted also included a goose. Enough with the swan pictures already. Thanks!

I get your point, and I’m all for the independence movement, which would solve this problem, but everywhere gets roughly the same number of MPs per person (9.3 to 10.3 MPs/million people). How does London get a fair deal with 75 MPs and only 8.5 MPs/mil?
comment in response to post
No, they’re all young male white rhinos. Horns just haven’t grown much yet.
comment in response to post
Lovely picture, but this is NOT a UK wildlife photo. Just saying in case the BlueSky algorithm is listening.

Wildly underrated movie.

Love this! Would also love to see a #seahorse project on @zslofficial.bsky.social’s #InstantWild, as I’m otherwise unlikely to be able to see a seahorse from here. 😉 #ArmchairSharkDetective

The full rule I was taught is “I before E except after C when the sound is E”. That accounts for “science” and “neighbour”, neither of which are pronounced “ee”. I’m sure there are still exceptions, though…

Oh. What a dull name.
