At its heart, Pride is the celebration of a community coming together to resist oppression. Same with the 4th of July a few days later. Funny how these MAGA folks are so offended by one while cherishing the other. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Seen on my walk today. More happy bees. #SanFrancisco #bloomscrolling

I hope nobody is expecting me to stop liking tacos.

The internet is for cats and porn, but it's also for Romantic poetry read by Vincent Price (born 114 years ago today). πŸ’™πŸ“š #poetry www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrH-...

I like visiting cemeteries in general, but Memorial Day always feels like the right day to visit the Presidio again. #SanFrancisco

We have a clinically insane client at work who sends us paranoid, delusional, cringeworthy rants like this, which I quickly skim and file away before moving on. But I mustn't let myself get inured to this. It astounds me that this man is the President and that this is his Memorial Day message.

When you buy a used book and find that somebody left you a little treasure. πŸ’™πŸ“š

I bought the photographer SebastiΓ£o Salgado's book "Migrations" for the beauty of all the pictures. But their cumulative effect ended up being deeply moving, and I'm sad it's now more relevant than ever. He was masterful on many levels, and I was sorry to read of his passing. #booksky #artsky πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸ’‘πŸ“š

Today I checked out the month-old Sunset Dunes Park with my pal Elise (my first time, not hers). The city closed a two-mile stretch of Great Highway, and turned it into a long, thin park that runs along the beach. (Also, I found a happy bee.) #SanFrancisco #bloomscrolling

Just pausing to note what would have been the 90th birthday of the writer Dennis Potter. I was fascinated by "The Singing Detective" and "Pennies from Heaven", but if he had only ever written "Dreamchild", that would have been enough for me. #filmsky

Today I ended up talking to a guy who stopped me for directions. He was from Kyiv, in town briefly from his job on a cruise ship, where he plays cello after his music studies were interrupted by war. It was satisfying to be able to tell a Ukrainian how much I hate both Putin and Trump. #SlavaUkraini

One of my all-time favorite stage directions. From "The Admirable Crichton" by J. M. Barrie (born 165 years ago today). #theatre πŸ’™πŸ“š

Here I am visiting Alcatraz in 2012. It's a fascinating place, but it's also a decrepit old pile, and the idea of turning it back into a working prison with this administration's alleged commitment to government efficiency is laughably delusional. #Alcatraz #SanFranicsco #DOGE

Seen on my walk today. The bees looked very happy. #SanFrancisco #bloomscrolling

Lemon - olive oil cake for today's book group. #baking πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸ½οΈ

I just read the obit of former Illinois Gov. Paul Ryan, a Republican whose support of the death penalty faltered to the point where he commuted the sentences of all 167 people on his state's Death Row. Yes, he was later jailed for corruption, but that one brave act remains heroic to me.
