Thought I’d had an original thought there but you beat me to it on the Anfield thing, completely agree. I’m also fully on board with calling BMD ‘the Dixie’ 💙

There's also a really good shot of your flag in situ in the Guardian's photo-essay of the big day 💙https://www.theguardian.com/football/gallery/2025/may/19/tears-toffee-ladies-sylvester-stallone-everton-last-premier-league-match-goodison-park-pictures

7/10. Crowd were brilliant, the ex-player parade & interviews were great, quite emotional. The violinist was superb. Bellew was embarrassing. And I absolutely love bill ryder-jones, great music, lovely lad, proper blue, but I thought he was an odd choice to close it. That’s not his fault though 💙

My favourite pairings for a side-by-side walkabout would be ratcliffe & mountfield, steven & Stevens, psycho & sheedy, Richardson & harper, sharp and
Heath, Limpar &
Kanchelskis, Gemill & Lindeloff (🫠) Cahill & arteta, pienaar & baines, Jags & stones…err…hmmmmm

Interesting. Mad Dog would be about 6.5/10? Cult hero, bang average baller. Would never say that to his face mind 😬

On a scale of Per Koldrup to Alan Ball, how likely do you think it is that Macca shows up tomorrow?

That side played some great stuff, such a shame they didn't win anything...that Fiorentina game 🫣

Could see that happening on Sunday as part of the after-match, what with Seamus and DM’s connected stories. But maybe not so much before Sunday, it might steal the show a bit. SC and Baines in the dugout next to Moyes at BMD next season would have a real Kendall / Harvey continuity vibe!

Agreed, everything I’ve seen of and heard from him suggests that it’s totally not his style. Nothing but love and respect for Seamus 💙

If Coleman retires (😢) and Patterson is moved on / not trusted (🤷♂️), even if we get a new super dooper RB, we’re gonna need cover. Can see JO’B getting more time at CH or RCB in a 3, so Young kinda makes sense. As cover. Maybe.

Ooh, what’s that and where is it? I’ve watched ‘goodbye to goodison’ twice (bit dusty round here) and rewatched Howard’s way, but didn’t know there was something on Seamus 💙

In this context, it’s also cos he’s someone who gets punched in the face for a living, rather than someone who’s experienced in hosting mass public events of emotional and historical importance to the audience

My first Goodison trip was an FA Cup match vs Ipswich in March 1985, the Sheedy double free-kick game, my 11th birthday. I really tried to get a ticket for today, would have been a perfect bookend, 40 years later. No joy though 🫤 Soak it all up on my behalf fella 💙

Same. The joy of re-engaging with the garden after winter, the warm air, the evening stretch, the smell of cut grass and the hell-fucking-yeah man-win inner-fist-bump rush of the 15-year-old self-maintained lawnmower starting up with the very first pull of the rip cord. Happy fucking days

On the middle aged jag…lived in a house with wooden floors for years and real tree ‘til death etc. But this year moved to a house with carpets and, frankly, that’s gonna be needle hell, surely? Time to fake it?
