I mean, why help hungry schoolkids when there's performative bloviation left undone on social media?

The more photos I see like this the more I think of Terry Pratchett's "Night Watch", its meditations of state power and policing, and in particular the line "A watchman -is- a civilian you inbred streak of piss!"

I am so -angry- that this is in my head now.

It's a small thing, but I'll always be a little pleased that I spotted that fake for what it was before the story broke.

Did JD Vance type that?

My heart wants to dunk on this woman for all eternity, but my head says look her dead in the eyes, say, "Yes, I know you didn't mean for this to happen. The people who did this abused your trust. That was terribly wrong of them, wasn't it? I'm sorry. Now, let me tell you how to stick it to them."

Go read any of the Discworld books involving elves and then replace the word Elf with Kennedy and it'll make sense. They're overcome by the glamor.

If Democrats had an ounce of nerve there'd be a TACO truck outside every place he visits, big video screens, audio; there'd be people shouting it at every protest. There would be billboards. He cleary hates it. Why they are incapable of leveraging the obvious I'll never understand.

I tried to talk w/ Fetterman at a campaign event and was shocked by how uninformed and disengaged he was on anything that didn't touch directly on his populist schtick. IIRC he said he'd be sure to have "smart people" guide him. This was pre-stroke.

We are about 6 months from the return of Dr. Brinkley's goat-gland treatment.

There were a couple of moments in the season premier that I swear were near perfect reshoots from "Conspiracy."

I used to be with it, then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you!

Thinking, for no particular reason at all, about the annual regional pow-wow held on a decommissioned Nike battery site.

No, see -this- time the isolationist artillery/technology platform of the moment really will work, and we can hunker down safe and warm and never be bothered with those icky people across the water again. It'll be worth every penny, you'll see.

Big internet requires commitment; little internet has too much plausible deniability. Bad choices are baked into the form.

Oh no, no they are not. Props on you masking in the confinements. I used to do research and ed outreach on that back in my I-CASH days.

"Oh, there's nothing halfway About the Iowa way to treat you, When we treat you Which we may not do at all." Meredith Wilson really had it nailed. (Can IN be real? Yeah, but when it turns...)

Is that a size thing or a culture thing or a little of both?

I once called a Deam of Students at home to help deal with a blacked out drunk student when none of us could find an RA. Good guy, he showed right up. To be fair, it was a small school. (I heard the tear-assing the missing RAs got the next day was legendary)
