someone on stream said games need more non-humanoid characters in terms of physical shape/interaction. absolutely agreed! but it's also a time-squeezed (or even expertise) production constraint. when you gotta lean on stock assets or tools to make shit quick? those are all built for humanoid players

lots of games visually look the same? partially the result of publisher tailchasing/risk averseness, yes. but also an indicator of tight dev cycles. creating a unique look requires tech art r&d that is simply not in the budgets right now. thus you get teams doing their best within out of the box pbr
