Updates on Vandersloot's knee? Hope it is less bad than it looked, and that recovery is quick.

General suggestion - adjust your search area. College and community radio for music, film festivals for movies. Your results may differ, but I find more of interest there, both old and new.

Love the PNW, miss the NE, even (and I know most folks think it weird) the humidity. Thanks for vicarious-ness.

Past experience reporting on this for community radio, says few people understand hows/whys of current system and alternatives. Helpful info here:

WoodlandParkZoo, or you've found a microclimate in Seattle that's somehow eluded me in 30+yrs here, or you're on to next adventures? Happy travels.

A neighbor has 2minitrucks in their driveway, and I've almost knocked on their door to ask questions. Supertempting as replacement for aging Subaru. Max speed of 60mph and difficulty getting parts, though, thanks for clearing that up. Will stick with admiring from ~afar.

In less seriousness, though, Bad Bunny + Marcell Hernandez = one of my favorite SNL bits ever. Those 2 together are comic gold.

For your ongoing explorings, and depending your tastes, add Espresso Vivace on CapHill to your potential temp office list. Scoffed at the whole coffeethang, when I moved here forever ago, but they got me fair & square, with best mocha in town. And, nearby VolunteerPark for views if sun holds out.

Looks like you had good timing wrt rain.
And, urban hike options not far from KUOW, if your weather luck holds: Ravenna Park & trails near UW Center for Urban Horticulture. UW offers boat rentals too, south of the stadium.
Not Adirondacks, but not bad.
Enjoy

Are you in Seattle now? It's gosling and duckling season at Greenlake. Swifts were out and about also, on my last couple of runs. Herons tend toward the west side. Bald eagle there just now. Urban nature.
And,south of the lake, urban oddities.

Nice! And glad you have healthy outlet between all your good works.
My latest project, free yarn from the neighborhood buy-nothing grp. Fighting the urge to tear it back & fine tune the stripes spacing. (knitting is -mostly- soothing/satisfying for me, right up until it borders on ocd-ness)

Tangential - Etched in memory, years ago, dinner with friends. One randomly asks, which muppet would you sleep with? Zero hesitation, another responds, Beaker!
?!?! Had she pondered this previously, or, was it organic/instant? Haven't been able to look at her since, without wondering and laughing.

Yep, me too. Horrifying that we are living in times where that is fully believable. And, adding a plug, that April5 was a great start, and looks like April 19 is up next. Ideally, peaceful protests -> policy change, enough so that you'll have to work a bit harder Onion!

Soooo sad to hear this Lisa. Absolutely no shade to your reporting (respect forrealz!), but broadcasts with him in the background were extra special & I've missed him since you've been back to the studio. Much love to you and your family as you adjust to not having him physically present.

sayin' it again - muzzing themselves and reversing their positions will only make them and their families less safe. stepping up is the answer.

I made a suggestion about encouraging depolarization. I clarified in case there was misunderstanding. If you found something helpful in it, great. If not, no worries. Your choice. Different ideas appeal to different folks.
Read your thoughts. Don't find them helpful. Thx anyway for the conversation.

I made a suggestion to decrease polarization. I explained why. Feel free to take the suggestion or not. Your choice. I have read what you have to say. I have considered it. I'm good with my decisions.

If they are sorry they're getting harmed but not sorry someone else is getting harmed, I have little sympathy. If they somehow for some reason inexplicable to me are finally seeing the current prez for who he is, then it's worth further discussion, and support for them through their deprogramming.

omg. are we done here yet? I'm pretty sure we agree more than we disagree.
~text version of flow chart: your referenced abused wife = my referenced remorseful voter. I have no idea what led to their vote, or why they regret it. That's the point of conversation.
comment in response to
post
I'm not saying to meet criminally insane abusers where they are. I'm suggesting supporting people trying to break out of the codependence triangle of the abused seeing the abuser as savior. I don't understand why anyone voted this admin in, but if they regret it, it's a place to start deprogramming.
comment in response to

DB's story is both/&. He and his friends engaged each other & those conversations led to change.
Openness to helping people out of their corners is supportive of standing up to narcissistic liars. That's the point, deprogramming.
Seriously. Argument here seems unecessary and unproductive.
comment in response to

Because of the sentences that follow it. ->Mocking them may send them deeper into their polarized corners. Conversations may help lead them out.
Seriously. Why argue over this? The point is people can change, and it’s a good thing if they do.
For example:

Again. It's not about bailing anyone out or absolving people of responsibility for their actions. Just saying there's something to gain by keeping space open for people to reform.
comment in response to
post
It's not about bailing anyone out, but where possible, encouraging openings for people to see past mistakes and point them to better ways forward. More allies, better.
comment in response to
post
Yep. I don't disagree with that.
But/And, again. Conversations are a place to start. Weed out those who are still self serving, and bring on board those who are late to understanding. More allies, better way forward.
comment in response to
post
Agreed it’s beyond hard to understand.
But/And
Request you consider expressions of voter’s remorse as opportunities for new allies. ‘Meet people where they are, not where you want them to be’. Mocking them may send them deeper into their polarized corners. Conversations may help lead them out.

Have you contacted the coalition of faith/religious organizations who are suing the administration? Seems a good group of folks to ally with. Solidarity.
