The definition of AI in the moratorium is broad enough that it arguably covers state biometric and deepfake laws. But there is enough wiggle room to create a ton of litigation over whether it covers those laws. #BIPA

When I was clerking, one of the cases relied upon United States v. Szymuszkiewicz. Still not sure how that is supposed to be pronounced.

This is huge news. I've been tracking this website for YEARS and it has been the biggest offender in this space.

It was me. I started in 2016. It’s my fault.

New from 404 Media: the age of realtime deepfake fraud is here. Scammers in Nigeria are using realtime deepfakes to change their race, facial hair, gender, more to appear as someone else on video calls. Results very realistic now. Also tricking verification systems www.404media.co/the-age-of-r...

My planned answers for tomorrow's review class already includes one "don't worry, I'm not asking that on the exam." Really wondering how many spontaneous ones appear.

RFK Jr. wants to eradicate autistic people and also has no idea what an autistic person is

wikipedia editors sometimes make FAQ pages for controversial articles that gets the same complaints over and over and over and i think they're some of the most interesting pages on the entire website!!!

Counterpoint: Ed Martin tried to get the DOJ to convene a grand jury to investigate a sitting senator and it only made news for like a week. The world is so crazy that I'm not sure we know what is beyond the realm of plausibility anymore.

Northwestern law has zero classes on string theory. We should remedy this by hiring my cat, who can lead string-focused workshops for needy students.

As a former Lutheran, I've been particularly distressed by the targeting of Lutheran Social Services. They're as bland a public service charity as you can find. Their main ideological commitment appears to be that there is a Christian obligation to help people in need.

I’m really glad that I did absolutely nothing financially in the last week.

NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID. This is what actual campus censorship looks like.

We have had nearly two decades of panic about Free Speech on Campus and not a single case, not even the ones they made up, were as bad as what's happening now

Better few than none, but noticeably few.

Rubio’s position seems to be: - We get to say who is a terrorist. Our decision is final. It can’t be challenged. Just trust us. - Once we decide you are a terrorist, we can immediately deport you. No judges. - After we deport you, we can make you rot in a foreign prison. No criminal charges needed.
