Well in 2003, the Bush Admin hyped up a WMD program that did not exist. Iran does have a nuclear program, and it has progressed. Trump is exaggerating the threat and shouldn’t be trusted, but the lies of 2003 go far beyond this.

Also, Trump’s big complaint about the Iraq War is that we didn’t “take the oil.”

On being a backdrop to an impromptu Trump media avail: "It was weird. I was caught by surprise, honestly, when he started talking politics, with Iran and everything. I was kind of like, I just want to play football"

Tim Weah on today's surreal Juve Oval Office visit: "They just told us that we have to go, and I had no choice but to go. So I guess it was a cool experience, obviously being in the White House as a first time, it's always wonderful. But I'm not one for the politics, so it wasn't that exciting"

Yeah I know who he is, but it doesn’t look like it was McKennie’s (or Weah’s) idea. My guess is FIFA asked Juve to do it and they said yes.

I’m seeing posts on Facebook from people who I know voted for Trump furious about selling the public lands. They see their trail running or fishing spots up for sale and suddenly, the MAGA vibes blinders start to come off.

It was worse. You had Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice blanketing the airwaves warning of “mushroom clouds” in American cities if we didn’t invade. You also had stuff like this, where the Congressional cafeteria renamed “french fries” to “freedom fries.” www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLI...

Yeah in my reply farther down I say we need the deciding vote to be the left of where Sinemanchin were and 52+ seats

Yeah, you need a deciding vote to the left of Manchin or Sinema and ideally 52+ senators rather than 50. Which likely means primarying Fetterman, reining in Gallego and Slotkin, and running candidates willing to play constitutional hardball in 26 and 28.

This was never going to happen with Biden and Schumer, especially pre-Dobbs. You need a POTUS who makes it a priority with the muscle to push it through the senate. That’s probably Pritzker and we’ll need a new Senate majority leader who’s closer to Reid than Schumer to push it through.

I know she is but I like to take the excuse at face value to show how absurd it is.

Also unlike the provider tax and directed payment portions of the bill, the ban on transgender coverage is blunt and doesn’t require reference to existing law to understand it.

The Medicaid portion of the bill isn’t that long. She can read or get briefed on the language in half an hour. Murray is usually pretty good but needs to do better here.

That’s not everyone of course, but it is way too many - especially in the Senate.

The founders assumed Congress would look after its own power. Of course they wouldn’t give it away! But they neglected to foresee the modern DC legislator - interested in the trappings and status of office, but uninterested in exercising the duties of office.
