I really do wish government departments, especially those revolving around health would stop referring to people as 'customers' & 'service users'.

And so it begins. PiS was never going to give the government a chance to work constructively with the new President. This sounds a lot like setting a precedent of government & President needing to be from the same party.

Despite Nawrocki's criticism of some things PiS did in power & his more hard-right position on certain issues, I can't get past the idea he was chosen as a yes man to block the Tusk government & bring about early parliamentary elections.

🇵🇱⚖️🗳️ The rule of law repair process in Poland just got incredibly more difficult. I expect President Nawrocki to be even less cooperative than Duda, as Nawrocki will work hard for a PiS parliamentary election victory. Tough times ahead. 1/

Sigh. Part of me feels like the main point of Nawrocki's candidacy has always been to grind the government to a halt. He has so little political experience & strikes me as a yes man for PiS His views are to the right of Duda & he seems to have been carried by the far right & antiestablishment votes

Don't you even dare cursed ratio.

I think we're done here. (But still hoping votes from the Polish diaspora make a difference). #WyboryPrezydenckie2025 #WyboryPrezydenckie

More good news coming out of Russia today. ##WyboryPrezydenckie ##WyboryPrezydenckie2025

It's always worth remembering with the late poll that the actual results it includes within its projections are from the smallest polling stations, & therefore more likely to be in more conservative rural areas.

Big win for Rafał Trzaskowski among Poles voting on ships. ##WyboryPrezydenckie2025 ##WyboryPrezydenckie

Which is an interesting position to take when there is a 0.6% difference in the exit poll and you might end up the winner instead. I wonder how long those claims will last if Nawrocki nudges ahead.

What's particularly fascinating here (for me) is how close most of these criteria are. There's no great difference between genders or age groups, it's only education where you see a real difference.

No sleep tonight until we know it's true...

This is awesome. I need to see it. To mark the 50th anniversary of Andrzej Wajda's masterful film adaptation of Władysław Reymont's 'The Promised Land', the city of Łódź (where it's set) has unveiled a new mural. It was created by artist Maciej Bielewicz & can be found at 120 Piotrowska Street.

This guy looks friendly walking around my local town centre right now 😐

A win for Świątek means a win for Trzaskowski? I'm about as confident of the latter as I was about Iga after the first set.

Well at least someone’s trying to end the Ukraine war in a day

Happy #InternationalChildrensDay. To celebrate, my now annual tradition of marking it with the absolute master of children's portraiture, the late, great Stanisław Wyspiański. On Thursday there's a chance to find out even more about Wyspiański, with a talk at the British Library

So that Champions League final is not free to air anywhere not even on You Tube thanks to wretched TNT the same despicable TNT that charge us in UK £31 a month to watch the French Open, rats 🤬 #ChampionsLeagueFinal #PSGInter #RolandGarros #FrenchOpen

Personally, I think there should be a far bigger outcry over TNT's vice-like grip over sport broadcasting in the UK. Seems pretty obscene to me. Thank God I've got Polish TV at home.

PSG are trying to be the 24th club to win the European Cup. Founded in 1970, they would be the only winners founded after the tournament (1955). Though Steaua Bucharest/București (founded 1947, champions 1986) & Crvena Zvezda/Red Star Belgrade (founded 1945, European Cup aged 46 in 1991)
