Glazer's speciality is deep dread, which isn't an easy emotion to generate in an audience.

The best response would have been: “I just assumed he wasn’t physically capable.”

Shakespeare & Company also did an epic reading for the 100th anniversary. Season 1 is the daily reading, Season 2 contains conversations about each part podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/f...

The first time through it helped to read it along with the 1982 RTE full-cast recording. It made it much easier to understand the wordplay, who was talking, and the demarcation between interior and external dialog. Plus, naturally, they get the accent right

Thomas Anshutz’s “A Rose” is right around the corner from the Sargents at the Met, making it the “She’s had it up to here with your shit” section of the American Wing

I get it confused with ‘birkie’ which is Scottish for a brash young man. Which reminds of the absolute A+ insult word ‘coof’ from Robbie Burns:
“Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord,
Wha struts and stares and a' that;
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a coof for a' that”

IKWIG! has a warmth and humor that I find delightful, making it more re-watchable than The Red Shoes.
Plus I have a longstanding crush on Pamela Brown as Catriona

My gym teacher was a large Italian guy who looked like a dockworker, but during square dance class he would unironically wear a straw hat and tie a bandana around his neck and I absolutely loved him for it
