Stone Head of Salaspils replica: Looking like a grumpy dolmen, this replica of the original Stone Head of Salaspils is set in a corner of Livu Laukums (Livu Square), Riga. Being surrounded by trees, it is, alas, always in their shade.

Ffon y Cawr (the giant’s stick) near Rowen, Dyffryn Conwy. Legend has it that the stone was thrown by a giant from the hill fort at Pen y Gaer (hill on left) to wake his dog who was sleeping in the burial chamber Maen y Bardd nearby. @megalithic.bsky.social

About a year ago I went to pick up a secondhand coffee table from Duloe in Cornwall and spotted a sign by the road saying "stone circle". It turned out to be this wonderful little circle with beautiful stones fashioned from white quartz. -- #standingStoneSunday @megalithic.bsky.social

This stone is 9.4 metres high (yes 9.4 metres!) + it’s not even the tallest standing stone in Brittany. The Menhir de Champ Dolent is sinking into the ground, they say, and when it’s completely gone, the world will end (I think it might end before then). #standingstonesunday @megalithic.bsky.social

Menhir de la Chapelle Saint-Gildas: At the rear of a chapel in Côtes-D'Armor, Bretagne is this menhir with veins of quartz, 1.95 metres tall. It stands solitary in a field with a strange lump on one side.
