but also that I'm in turn holding other people emotionally hostage by waiting for this validation, and now I'm deconstructing how I communicate in every way, and that I should probably say goodbye with a middle finger for a while.

It's not a silver bullet answer, but recognise that you're onto something, explore broadening your reach and opportunities in a way that suits you and your interests, and keep having fun with it!

It may seem like you're stuck around the 300's, but your month-to-month average has been consistently trending upwards. Max viewership is subtly increasing as well. Real stagnation actually shows reducing numbers, so any sustained growth at all is significant progress.

I enjoy that this comic doesn't need a B-side!

Variably comfy, cute, sexy, and funny, but all of it precious.

I could list of the sins inherent in this message, but they wouldn't get it.

Oblivion mini-detox going well, I hope? I never had the same relationship with Skyrim as I did the other games in the series, but there's nothing quite like it.

I have nothing but respect for her because of course. But the challenges we are facing in this cultural moment is not the *result* of the progress that has been made. The progress was made in spite of this societal trend. The trans, gays, and minorities have always been the first and worst victims.

Best moment in the movie, no doubt.

The STALKER series would probably suit you! Survival horror FPS in sandbox maps. I haven't played 2 yet, but the earlier games have late 00's janky charm. You could probably start with 2, but they're all great!

But if you have that energy, or once you've recovered it, rather than despairing do what you can to channel that anger and frustration into something positive. Make a nuisance of yourself - demand better from your representatives. Show up to demonstrations, and tell your reps that you support them.

If like me you've been feeling shocked, hurt, betrayed, and lost, please be kind to yourself as a priority. Your safety and happiness is the most important thing right now.

Now that I've had my social media rant, I'll continue collecting my thoughts and compose a response highlighting my specific concerns, and look into what more I can do for advocate for the rights of myself and other trans people in my area.

But my concern is not that he would willingly legislate my rights away. It's that he doesn't seem to appreciate the true nature of the challenges we are facing.

My MP in his email does recognise that trans and LGBT people deserve dignity and respect, and protection from discrimination and harassment. He is aware of his constituents' concerns, and I welcome his assurance the Government will seek a trans-inclusive conversion therapy ban.

All this said, it isn't as though our representatives are incapable of understanding our needs. The debate in Parliament about the Self-ID e-petition shows that there are politicians who do understand our concerns and are aware of the flaws endemic in Parliament itself holding progress back.

We deserve better. We demand better.

And make no mistake, the cards are stacked against us. There's a lot of inertia in our systems and society, and the way things are going in the coming years the playing field isn't going to be any more accommodating. But if we were happy playing along any longer then we wouldn't be here.

If we accept anything less, we're playing the game of those who would reverse what few rights we've been fortunate to enjoy for as long as we have. They want to tire us out, make us feel afraid, and alone, and as though the whole world is against us. As though there's nothing we can do.

We need to demand that our rights be explicitly carved out in law. We need to demand that organisational stigma and professional gatekeeping end. We need to demand that rulings granting an excuse to exclude us from public life be superseded with new legislation to protect our rights.
comment in response to post
We cannot assume that our rights are legally enshrined, and can be teased out of existing legislation and rulings by careful and critical interpretation. Simply put, they are not, and there is no incentive for those with the power to do so so to look favourably on our position.
comment in response to post
No legal ruling should have such poorly-defined repercussions that it it is either and at once devastating to a vulnerable group but also something that can be reasonably mitigated by applying "common sense".
comment in response to post
A promise to apply "common sense" to the ruling is not legally or intellectually rigorous, leaving enforcement of this "guidance" up to the interpreter. A GC's "common sense" and a trans person's are fundamentally incompatible.
comment in response to post
Not to mention even reading and understanding the consultation is to directly face and recognise just how badly the deck is stacked against us. This is not a fight we are able to win, and we should not be wasting our precious energy on it.
comment in response to post
Moreover, as we realised to our dismay yesterday, we have no meaningful recourse in making changes to the guidance - it will not change the demeaning, dehumanising, and fundamentally flawed reasoning of the ruling.
