Just here to show off my cats, Auggie and Drusilla, and follow the public health, science, and political news. Expect mostly cat pictures from me to lighten the mood, but I may post other things as the mood strikes. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ living in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

She claims they are being sent to their "home country," but are they actually? Reports suggest otherwise. What happens in those cases?

Are they just throwing a dart at a map when deciding where to send people?

An older relative didn't like my political posts on social media and was upset. They told me I shouldn't use SM for my political views since they didn't like it. I "had to respect them," and he's the president for the next 4 years, so I should "deal with it." I dealt with it by being more vocal.

Measles is contagious several days before the rash appears. So it's possible to spread it without knowing you have it. It's one of the reasons it spreads so easily.

That's what I assumed, but I also know people (relatives) who would say this and believe it.

Is it bad (or good) that I am not sure if this is satire or serious?

For once, I actually believe him when he says, "I made the money."

If she had a role in the current administration, would she say something?

The spin I saw was that it will be "gifted" to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation.

I don't blame her for staying away, but I think it's outdated to assume the spouse will take on a role with the presidency. What other jobs expect that?

Where do I start! My background is in medical anthropology and public health, and I am baffled by the insanity from him.

Triple check at minimum given the impact on people's lives.

I supervise undergrads and grad students in research. It's a learning experience. This makes me cringe. I would want someone to triple check MY work if I was doing something like this.

Same with Josh Hawley.

The Taylor & Francis deal with Microsoft was done without informing authors or having an opt-out policy in place. The work is being sold without the authors' consent. If they have changed it, I haven't seen anything.

Doesn't stop the publisher from selling access either. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Some research funders require articles based on funded work to be published as open access. It usually costs a few $1,000 and is an eligible expense in a grant. Or many universities have an agreement with publishers to waive or provide a discount on cost.

I usually read those rants trying to guess which parts are actually about him and his insecurities. It's not that hard to guess.
