I have yet to see a music production “expert” post here, because it won’t show me one unless I look for it, or a friend engages with it. Game changer!

It’s less active in terms of music conversation, but much better otherwise. There’s no algorithm, so you see what you (or your friends) are interested in. There’s much less engagement farming because of that. And being able to quickly and easily block annoying people is a godsend

This is even funnier because Ad Rock is still alive

I can imagine it! I’ve been that kind of person! The thing that cooled off my gear-collecting frenzy was an actual lack of physical space. But here’s a bonus tube amp photo for you — this was at the Oakland Museum White Elephant sale in 2023. It was super cool!

Right? And buying records, which were $9-12 each even in the 1990s. Even though I used to get paid a decent amount back then, I’m sure an accountant would start drinking after viewing my profit/loss statement

I don’t know if this is a compliment or a burn, and honestly…either one is acceptable and appropriate

Overall, though, this BMW 228 is for people who should buy a Toyota Corolla but want a fancy badge to show off. But it’s all “Ultimate Driving Machine” cosplay, full of bright lights and flashy nonsense to distract you from realizing it’s a pretty basic car.

Driving impressions: - It’s a small fwd car, though with a premium badge. - drivetrain is excellent - handling seems ok, though weirdly the European 120d felt more nimble and connected on small snow tires - steering feel: like a video game controller. artificial and numb.

And I don’t know what the stylists are going for with this grill pattern. At least the nostrils aren’t huge.

Speaking of embarrassing, check out these M-branded puddle lamps that are projected on the ground. Is this car an M model? Absolutely not! Serious stolen valor here.

Or how about that, like in many modern cars, the majority of the controls are through a gigantic screen, forcing you to dive into submenus instead of, you know, twisting a simple knob. This is why I may never sell my 2017 VW GTI.

I say “mostly” because the interior—where you will be spending your time—is filled with gimmicky bullshit that should have never made it to production. Like these dashboard ambient lights, that reflect in the rear view mirrors and make them useless at night. (Red: SPORT MODE. Of course)

So, when it came time to rent a car in Florida, I figured this 228 would be fine, and similar to what I drove in Europe. Not really! Let’s get the good things out of the way. It’s quick, and the drivetrain is typical-BMW smooth. As a daily driver, it mostly fades into the background

Some background: last year I rented this car’s cousin in Switzerland — a diesel BMW 120. Despite what I’ve read about the small BMWs being underwhelming, I really liked the 120 and it was an excellent companion through the Alps. Even on snow tires, it was composed and fun.

That’s pretty much his usual

I just landed on a Florida-bound flight, with Oilers fans next to me and Florida fans in the row ahead, and it was pretty hilarious
