🌧️Overnight a large band of cloud has been moving toward the country from the west. This is the band of cloud which appears red on the left side of the image. As it moves over the South Island, it will bring heavy rain to the west coast, with accumulations between 130mm - 160mm forecast tonight.

🛰 Aotearoa from Above🦜 Skies are clear over most of NZ, but there's plenty of cloud offshore. If you look closely, you can even spot ripples in the bank of cloud to the west of the country 👀

Severe Weather Watches and Warnings 🌧💨🟠🟡 Heavy Rain Warnings for the ranges of Westland, the headwaters of the Canterbury lakes and rivers about and south of Arthur's Pass, and the headwaters of the Otago lakes and rivers.

Mōrena, Aotearoa 🌄 A couple of places managed to start the day in double digits; Kaitaia with 12°C, and Whangārei with 10°C. It's freezing in Taumarunui and Christchurch, both sitting on 0°C, with Ashburton and Masterton a smidge warmer on 1°C.

💨What a wild night in Wellington! The wind’s been howling right through the night and into this morning for many of us around the region. The strongest gust was clocked at Mt Kaukau—an impressive 82 knots, or 152 km/h! Down south, Mt Hutt Summit saw an even bigger blast, hitting 161 km/h.
