yeah to be fair also afghanistan was about 9/11 and iraq 2 was about finishing what daddy started and about profiting from the military industry, and the christian-nationalist undercurrent was somewhat secondary. the only piece i specifically have a problem with is the "it's about oil!" bit
comment in response to post
{the last bit is based on recent election results (which were straight up ignored by the dictatorship of course), which, okay, it doesn't say exactly that, just that 80%ish voted for the opposition, sure. but it's a pretty solid proxy.}

if what you care about is oil then why would you wage war halfway across the world in a region full of people who fucking hate you for all the bullshit you've pulled for decades and not in an effectively defenseless country in your "backyard" where 80% of people would greet you as liberators

My friends, immunity debt is not real. It's the lie they told you to cover up why you are sick all the time. Covid is damaging your immune system, you keep getting sick because your immune system is weak. It will keep getting weaker and you will keep getting sicker. We all know where this leads

If you don’t understand what that means, it would mean an end to IVF & abortion. It would mean that even miscarriages could be investigated for murder charges. It would give a legal right to a fetus that no other person has, the right to use another body without ongoing consent

This was done to further a far right pet project, fetal personhood. This wasn’t about saving a life. They don’t care about the life of her child. They want to establish legal precedent to declare embryos and fetuses full people under the law.

a person is what happens in certain conditions of a brain actually working as a necessary (but not sufficient) prerequisite. personhood remains under all sorts of brain dysfunction or temporary cessation of function — but not brain death. if you're brain-dead, you're gone, and there is no "you".
comment in response to post
that said, the *specific* moral question of what to do about a brain-dead pregnant body is not very interesting, because a brain-dead body is not a living human being—there's no person in there. a brain-dead body has precisely the same degree of personhood as a cadaver, legalities notwithstanding.

They tried everything else first, this is just their most recent attempt to uninstall Copilot

As they were wheeling me off for emergency and life saving surgery, they stopped to ask HIS permission. They asked him if he was “ok” with my being unable to bear children. If he would leave me if I couldn’t procreate “for him”. We hadn’t even said “I love you” yet

None of it mattered. I was repeatedly treated as second to a man and a baby who didn’t even exist. I was denied the autonomy to decide what I wanted for my body.

These drastic measures were taken to save an organ I didn’t want and could live without. They were taken to preserve my fertility for a hypothetical future man despite my being clear I never wanted children (nor was I well enough to care for them)

and bsky really needs private modlists including ones that make the client behave the same as if there was a server-side block.

if you can't articulate the specific (human and material) practical benefit to your cause that made you choose the specific location and manner of your protest over any other location and manner, you should not be protesting against an oppressor. you would just become a burden to your own cause.

We don't want the product OpenAI sells to be developed under a legal framework. We want it to go away entirely
comment in response to post
Whatever it is we mean when we say AI art is "stolen", we can't fix it by overly focusing on the fact that the reuse of the content is illegal. This is because¹ there are so many entirely legal ways to steal ¹ and that's even *before* we enter the era where AI corps get to start rewriting the law
