What's the point of FEMA if it's not helping people? πŸ˜‘ A lot of natural disasters in the US take place in areas that voted for The Felon, so I hope people remember that when their lives are upended and they get no assistance apart from hopes and prayers.

Followers of mass movements function purely on emotion. Historian Heather Cox Richardson recommended this book last year. It's an invaluable resource for why people join mass movements and not how they think, but how they...operate. Because thinking has nothing to do with it. Highly recommemnded.

I first heard of Warren when she was a professor trying (successfully) to convince the Clintons that a bill that made it easier for credit card companies to crush people who had declared bankrupcy was brutal on consumers. All these years later, still trying to make life better for everyday people.

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump interferes in some way (beyond everything else) since he and his base love to hate on international things, especially ones that the US isn't good at. PS: I still respect Megan Rapinoe for standing up to him in his first term. Too few athletes do.

I will never understand why Harris didn't take a stronger stand against Israel under Bibi, who is an authoritarian. I don't understand why Biden didn't after Bibi made it clear he wanted Trump in office, but asking Biden to think outside the box was a big ask. Harris should have done it though.

It says a great deal about how broken the US political system is that we had Trump as a legal candidate last election, and that he won.

Defining displaying the truth as a "hostile action" says everything you need to know about MAGA and the current administration.

Anything they don't like is fake or a lie. MAGA is a mass movement, though. And like any cult, people get lost in it and seek the simplicity of being told what to think. Very much like Hitler's Germany.

I've worked with several millionaires at various points in my career and they *all* cease to develop emotionally at the point that they gain that money, in part because no one opposes them from that point on so there's nothing promoting emotional growth. That and they don't seek to grow.

He will, at some point, declare a national emergency and martial law. This is the authoritarian playbook. Moves like this are designed to facilitate that.

It's frustrating that more people and professionals haven't done this before now. Years ago, actually. But now is better than never!

It's really going to hit when the financial chaos capsizes people's bank accounts and the country descends into a recession.

Absolutely not. There isn't anything wrong with having tampons accessible anywhere.

True story, there are tampon machines at Sea Tac in Seattle and the number of people whose lives have been destroyed by them in 0.
