Yeah that's way overpriced, the F# Koans are free.

Whoever it is has me blocked so I'll consider that a blessing.

It's part of why we are unable to deal with the likes of Donald Trump. How do you regulate the behavior of someone that by all measures doesn't experience shame?

I feel this is an over-generalization. We are always more powerful as collectives and political parties enable wielding of collective will. But just like a mass of water represents significant power, that collective will can be abused.

wtf bobby I was thinking about this yesterday.

Bent over in front of the insurance lobby is his position.

Our congressional delegation is so much suck.

I insist that conservatism is a political philosophy that intends to preserve aristocracy in the face of burgeoning democracy.

I'm gonna guess poor dumb Tom here has never heard a child with pertussis. That sound alone should be enough to convince any decent person that vaccination is the correct path.

Not too sure about political theory but ostracism has been an effective regulator of societies for a few centuries now.
comment in response to post
Folks look at me like a conspiracy theorist when I say "it's the rich looking out for the rich" but it's just an exercise in class solidarity. Us plebes just don't know what's good for us, apparently.

Goddamn you'd think more of these college-educated folks would be familiar with the concept of ostracism. "Get out of the village until you can obey the rules" has worked for centuries. These assholes aren't even being ejected frmo the village.

Say what you will about the tenets of National Socialism but at least it's an ethos. In seriousness... just like the "democrats killing democrats" thing, their worldviews are incoherent. Their perception of the universe is founded in ignorance and grievance-nurturing.

Property crime is a direct function of economic opportunity. People don't steal when they have viable ways of meeting their economic wants - like feeding their families.

Conservatism is and always has been a political philosophy that intends to preserve aristocracy in the face of burgeoning democracy.

Yeah I'm stoked. I don't have to work the first night so I get to get crazy.

Yeah it's a regular festival we have "here" (I'm in Boise/Treasure Valley, Stanley is about 3 hours away in the Sawtooth Mountains). sawtoothvalleygathering.com

I get to hear him in a few days. I'm interested to see what they're about. They had some interesting requests for keyboard gear that makes me think they might be a bit more far-out than I initially thought.

That level of cluelessness and delusion would be funny if it wasn't so dangerous. Yikes.

None of these Y'all Qaeda fucks could run 1/4 mile without getting winded.

If it's not a lawful order, it's a request and "no thank you" is a perfectly acceptable response to a request. Fuckin Nazis.

Shit I didn't realize they had cameras this good in 1940s Nazi Germany.

I mean, that dude doesn't look like he's free to exercise his Constutitionally-guaranteed rights so I feel like that means he's detained.

He's just parroting what the crypto bros told him because he's not smart enough to reason through it himself.

Pro-coherent-understanding-of-the-germ-theory-of-disease groups? Christ.

Opportunist is a far better word. Anarchist implies a consistent political philosophy that I don't believe exists among those looting/etc. These folks are just exploiting chaos.

I don't feel Miller has the warmth nor depth to justify calling him that.

I'm a big fan of using outbound SSH with port forwarding for things like that - then I'm not actually poking any holes in my firewall.

I gotta think some kind of self-hosted solution would be the cheapest? A laptop running Linux that would check a remote queue for it's work seems like the best way? That's my naive approach anyway.

you're the 3rd person in my life in not-so-many days that has said "honry" and I can't tell if you're talkin about being ornery or mispelling horny or maybe both.

Donato is playing @ a festival I'm working next week. I've never heard them (him?) before.

Yeah, my misanthropy-fueled aversion to all of humanity looks like it's paying off again. Every day it seems like I reach new depths of loathing and disgust for *gestures generally*.

It's just a larger part of capitalism, I think - if Capital can reach full automation, the pesky process of negotiating with Labor goes away and they can literally do whatever they want.

I'm not sure why "cater to people who suck at thinking" is the counsel here instead of "help people get better at thinking"...

Home on Deranged. wtf is this.

Their job includes upholding the Constitution. Deporting people with legitimate immigration proceedings not subject to removal orders is not that and any support of that aim - whether direct or ancillary - is not "just doing their jobs".

The only fist fight I ever had in my school days happened because I told a bully to leave another kid alone and the bully turned on me. After shoving me twice I took a swing at him when he went to shove me the 3rd time but he was easily 2x my size and knocked me out in 1 punch. Both suspended.

I mean, he got one part right it seems - he does seem to have half a mind, though perhaps rounded up.

He should see Englewood Cliffs, NJ when the Colombian national team wins. You'd think you were in Colombia.

So much of that shit feels like coerced/theft to me. "We leave you no othe roption but to give us money for something you don't actually need". I also get the safety angle - folks could pack weapons in their bags - but I thought that's what metal detectors/etc were for.

I feel seen. And like I should probably wash my thumbs a little more thoroughly. One of them, anyway.

Yeah one of them really charmed me. I think about her at least once a week. Frequently when I'm alone and in need of, er, inspiration.

Walter, on the other hand, seems quite motivated by money. Like I think he'll say whatever dumb shit you want him to say if you give him enough money which is exactly what I think happened here.
