Apparently some of Congress is having a go thehill.com/homenews/hou...

saw Ballerina last night. it's a jumble of preposterous action carnage and overserious, vaguely Catholic-tinged Secret Organization nonsense that doesn't hold up if you think about it more than ten seconds. Keanu Reeves talks like he's in slow motion underwater. Five stars

Could this be why I have so few discourse takes

@alexsobel.co.uk Hi, you're my MP so I'd just like to ask you to do what you can to make sure we don't go to war with Iran please

Is Congress expected to get any say over whether the US goes to war with Iran

I don't suppose anyone in a similar position knows a good free HTML editor to use on a Chromebook that does what Caret does and isn't about to die on me

Woke up to find something called NotebookLM on my Chromebook, which seems to be an AI writing thing; to their credit they said as soon as I opened it saying that humans might read the stuff I write in it so probably don't put anything too juicy in there. Also they let me uninstall it so that's cool

I'm trying to find examples for each of these types of science fiction. I can think of three--although more recommendations would be welcome! But I can't figure out anything for entry (b)

One month apart.

Has the business model where you grow your user base by giving them something they want and then foist a load of crap on them always existed or is it a recent innovation

oh, this is good.

not a lot of people know that Return of the Mack is about bringing back library books on time

This is the one off-ramp I see to things before LLMs and GenAI cement themselves into every digital information system in catastrophic ways: they're wildly expensive to run, are popular now because they're essentially subsidized to the point of being free, and the bills are coming due.
