what overly burdensome regulations are we talking about? a lot of the time the examples pointed to are things like ensuring that there's adequate utilities to accommodate new residents. something that hurts the existing neighborhood if not planned for. that's what impact fees are supposed to handle

a good rule of thumb is to ask someone about rentpage, if it should be illegal or not. if they agree that it's collusion and should be restricted, i'll be more willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. if they dodge the question or say it would discourage building? absolutely not, bad faith

SF is quite dense though. even sunset is very dense compared to most american cities. now south bay? silicon valley is where density really needs to be focused on (and is also where most of the jobs in the bay are) but the YIMBY thing is /very/ much a coastal democrat city thing

the moment someone comes in telling me to "let the market work" i'm always going to push back which is why I have my problems with YIMBY as a whole don't come in telling me "deregulation" is good, the entirety of the past 40 years has been deregulation and it's only made things worse

anarchists talk about gentrification all the time. gentrification discourse is literally a left-nimby position

dumb fuck, that would clearly be negligence this wasn't because the cops couldn't find any proof she was behaving negligent
comment in response to post
the cops clearly couldn't or they'd be pursuing charges

manslaughter /still/ requires proof of negligence

the child would not be dead if they ran out into the street, either. unfortunately that's what happened, and no wrongdoing was found which is why the driver was not charged you can't just lock up people because a bad thing happened, intent or negligence needs to be proved and there's no evidence
comment in response to post
no evidence the driver was speeding in this case, they were following the laws of the road. why should they be punished?
comment in response to post
the kid ran into traffic, it's tragic but the driver did not negligently kill someone

microSD cards are way too small IMO
comment in response to post
yeah it's an nvme drive in a microSD package, pretty great honestly but it's still going to be expensive as hell for a while

this has been true for 30+ years, you never "owned" the games only the license to use them

his company's entire value is dependent on subsidies granted by the US government and tariffs are a material threat to his (and every other business's) profits, trump absolutely holds all the cards here even if "not as rich" on paper
comment in response to post
like tesla obviously would be hurt by tariffs so why wouldn't elon be mad at trump for it
