Thinking again, though, maybe he’s only “the member for ASPI”. I’ve previously described ASPI as “a filthy nest of gun-runners” and I won’t resile from that. That’s what they are.

You are *way* too kind! “The Terrible Twos” seems about right to me 🤔😂

“The Member for the Pentagon Richard Marles” is all too true 😡

From a local councillor I know: they can barely manage rubbish, roads and rates - asking them to do more is asking for trouble.

This absolutely happens in America. Tens of millions voted for it, knowing full-well this kind of thing would happen. They wanted it to happen and are now just fine that it has happened. I don’t think that’s right: but I know that it is true.

At least there was no side-trip via CECOT.. 😱

Honestly - with Marles I occasionally wonder 🤔 (Not really - but they’re not as “chalk and cheese” as they should be ☹️)

Gotta say: if that exists (🤷‍♂️) then I’ve never seen it in any important form 🤔

One of my best friends is ‘from’ Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Czech Republic. Further back, where she’s from was part of Lithuania and also Hungary. They have a family castle! 😳 The castle hasn’t moved. 🙄 Nationality has. Is she Eastern European? Western? (Baltic, FFS!) 🙄🤔

As I walk past, visit, and shop in the stores in my local ‘villiage’ (part of Sydney) I notice all and know many of the lovely and hard-working owners, managers, workers, in my local shops from successive waves of immigration. I like them, I admire them, I support them. They contribute mightily.👏

As a boring old white guy, I’ll note that I have to correct other boring old white guy’s mispronunciation of my name all the time (it’s the 2nd ‘L’ that stops me from being a funnel). I’ve NO idea what others must go through: but it has to be worse! 😱

(When Goldwater ran against LBJ for the Presidency back in the early-days of political TV ads he had the tag-line “in your heart, you know he’s right”. LBJ countered, often just by word-of mouth, with “in your guts you know he’s nuts” 😂)

Also for the record: I once had lunch with Barry Goldwater. 🤷‍♂️

For the record: I once “entered a parallel universe” staying at a resort called “The Pointe” in Phoenix. Even Hunter S. couldn’t capture *all* the weirdness 😳😱

“If there is in fact, a heaven and a hell, all we know for sure is that hell will be a viciously overcrowded version of Phoenix — a clean well lighted place full of sunshine and bromides and fast cars where almost everybody seems vaguely happy, except those who know in their hearts what is missing.”

Their long-term aim has always been to turn Australia into some kind of Fantasy-Land version of 1940s/50s Arizona which never came close to existing - even in Arizona 🙄

Delaying my 🚲 ride home to stop at the bakery got me rained on, a bit - but it was worth it 😃

Mine was more chunky - half-way between soup and stew - with some nice chunky bread from my local baker.

Chicken, red onion & potato and a bunch of veggies which needed to be used. Then sliced in some Swiss Brown mushrooms “just because”..

Would you suggest I should have preferenced the Libs ahead of Labor? If so, why do you think I should have done that?
comment in response to post
It depends on what you mean by “voted for Labor”. 🤔 They were a good way down from my 1st preference - but I did preference them above Libs, which means that on a 2CP basis I did “vote for them”. I was passionate about putting them ahead of the Libs because I passionately wanted 🥔 etc. blocked 🤷‍♂️

One assumes there are detailed operational methods for defending the entire length of sixteen very long cables using only two N-boats. Of course there are. There must be .. 🤔 Right?
comment in response to post
(*) assuming we get all 8 SSNs *and* can match the US Navy’s “25% of boats operationallly deployed” tempo (the USN having the world’s longest experience operating SSNs and SSBNs).
comment in response to post
According to “the perfumed warlord” (Richard Marles; per Ronni Salt 😂) - as stated under his byline in 9fax papers - any subs we’ll ever get (🙄) will defend some hand-wavy “sea lines of communication” stuff and defend 16 very long undersea cables with a max of 2 operational SSNs (*)

I wish I could afford to have Patek Phillippe as my favourite brand - or another of “the holy trinity” (which includes VC and AP). JLC is my ‘highest’ reach (I very much like my sector dial variant of the Master Control Date).

My most-often-worn watch (I’m wearing it right now) is a Tudor: also founded by Wilsdorf as kind of a cut-rate Rolex - which some will say they still are, though they make more of their own way these days.
