Emerson had just graduated high school. He’s an excellent soccer player with hopes of continuing his future playing a game he loved. He was detained by ICE and deported to a place he hadn’t lived in for more than ten years. His family came to Cincinnati to escape gang violence and extortion.

6/18/1980: Hired on a trial basis, cartoonist Bill Waterson has his first political cartoon published in the Cincinnati Post. Watterson, inspired by Jim Borgman, very briefly worked for the paper before being let go. Given that he went on to create Calvin & Hobbes, I am glad it didn’t work out.
