The ATprotocol is inevitable. Never bet against open protocols in the long term.

LLMs are the weirdest imo. We don't fully understand how they are so capable. The embedding spaces are too large for our minds to grok. They are like digital alien brains.

This is why I am not a big fan of this checkmark implementation. Enabling off-protocol / out-of-band trust assumptions to propagate into the AppView opens the door to super advanced social attack vectors. I hope I'm wrong; time will tell. I think it's wiser to improve the UX of the domain config.

If you trust a bad certificate, your bank credentials are hacked. If you trust a bad verifier, you have slightly more disinformation in your feed than normal. Totally different threat vectors.

I wouldn't overthink it, just reuse the whtwnd.com Lexicons.

Feels like a minor misstep, are you prioritizing features based on an upvoty.com board or something similar? Hopefully the new head of product can help realign the priorities. Great execution, but doubling down on domains is probably wiser for this.

100% they should be decoupled. This way feed authors can share ranking algorithms. I would put this kind of tech debt in the not urgent but important quadrant.

The follower graph is everything. You have to own and understand your audience. You can make an atproto labeling service that lets users subscribe ( pay off protocol ) to your publishing DID. You can then make an appview that decrypts content for users, no need to even run a full relay.

Do not give in. Just build a substack clone on atproto, you have a large enough audience to actually get it off the ground. With Cursor you can probably get v1 done in a weekend.

ATproto inside private data is far safer and more flexible. We can technically already do the former with meta protocols like mask.io
