I'm guessing that the White House will argue that paying for National Guard lodgings is a matter for states, not the federal government.

Just as well that January 6th was a huge outpouring of love then, rather than a violent riot.

But the bereaved parents - at least the anti-vaxxers among them - have all done their own research; so you shouldn't feel too bad for them.

It doesn't need to work, because none of them will be charged with a crime.

There's been a murder?

They're up for the Darwin Awards

Apparently the growth rate is about one new user every five seconds. That's getting towards 1000 per hour.

When the list is drawn up I hope Homan is on it.

When it comes to irritating the scolds, Thunberg is a special case: a gobby young woman.

35 million users (I just looked it up). Doesn't look to me as though it's failing.

It is. But given that this is an administration in a hurry, I don't understand why they don't feel they have enough of a pretext already. I'm assuming that the decision will be led by Miller. He's not stupid and has a grasp of strategy. I conclude that a bigger provocation is in the offing.

What I don't understand is why the administration hasn't invoked the Insurrection Act yet.

He comes across as a particularly thuggish repo man.
comment in response to post
But it won't will it. The supreme court has given him immunity for anything he does in the course of his role as president. So he is legally permitted to deploy National Guard troops irrespective of what the Insurrection Act says. There will be no comeback whatever.

"Epstein files? I don't know anything about any Epstein files. Who is he anyways?"

Don't buy anything at all from Amazon.

And they'll probably be on the ICE target list.

Funnier than you might think: if Trump gets his way and birthright citizenship is abolished, it means Barron Trump is an illegal alien.

I'm more interested in the clear abuse of process that has now been revealed. The highest law officer in the US is on record as saying that he is guilty.

Thing is - they both need each other.
comment in response to post
Be specific. Are you talking about Hegseth (alcohol), Kennedy (heroin), Musk (ketamine), Trump junior (cocaine)?

Quick! Abolish the Department of Education!

There's no way they would have decided to bring him back unless they already had a case against him stitched up and ready to go.

Thanks. I'll certainly watch this (later tho!)

What he means is 'gas is cheap (everywhere except where you live)'.

I'm all up for detailed examinations of what might have happened - such as this one. And, for the record, I'm emphatically not saying that Trump won fair and square (his previous behaviour suggests that he might well have tried to steal the election). But - kneejerk, evidence-free reactions? No!
comment in response to post
In other words: Trump was quite happy to allow a man who he believed had Nazi sympathies to take a chainsaw to the American government.

Sorry - but this is as bad as Stop the Steal. Either you believe in the electoral system, or you don't.
comment in response to post
You seriously believe that the document - that's been in Bondi's hands for six months - will contain anything even hinting at Trump's criminality? Of course it won't!
comment in response to post
A smart laywer will find it quite easy to demonstrate that he can't get a fair trial - because the attorney general is on record as saying he is in effect guilty.
comment in response to post
I do believe - given that the administration has caved - that we can be pretty certain they will have some admissible evidence, whether or not it's been invented.
comment in response to post
At least for now, they both need each other. Expect a 'reconciliation.'
comment in response to post
Some people might be underestimating the Reform achievement: for an English nationalist party to have increased its vote share in a Scottish constituency is a worrying development.

You think any of them will be charged with a crime

Sorry - but it was a stupid question. He was never going to admit that there was a conflict of interest, was he.

Yup. 'Real men' hurl insults at and threaten each other like children in a school playground.

Why pick on the space programme only? The whole purpose of wrecking the government is to hand over provision of most government services to commercial corporations. SpaceX fuck-ups are a foreshadow of what's going to be happening all over the US in a couple of years.

He's either lying about being a straight man, or about loving Trump.

Says the man who called Trump 'America's Hitler'.

If the water industry were to be nationalised now, the taxpayer would have to find the money to replace what privatised water companies have ripped off. Surely better to force them to deal with their own debt and then nationalise them.
comment in response to post
Big bomb? Or damp squib? Why does everyone seem to think that any Trump references in the Epstein files will still be there? Do people really think that Bondi won't simply have ripped out the relevant pages and shredded them?
comment in response to post
Why do they need to hold meetings? Reform is a limited company and, as such, its decisions are presumably made by the owners. You only need meetings where there is democratic politics.
comment in response to post
Yes - it is wishful thinking!

Now that the threat of being primaried by Musk supported right wingers has receded, it's entirely possible that the Republicans in the senate will eviscerate the bill.

The problem for 'them' is that they're being forced to 'accept' that things they don't like exist.
