If Flock is serious about enabling “democratically-authorized governing bodies to determine” how to leverage its technology “in a way that reflects their values,” Flock needs to come up with an attestation system that permits non-ban states to block abortion related requests.

Historically privacy supposed to be protected — DACA, IRS, census — and then it isn’t. Destroys trust in institutions. Disincentivizes rule following. Endangers people in dangerous times.

Not to mention criminalizing abortion, making evidenced based Repro care inaccessible or challenging to obtain, and dramatically increasing maternal mortality — all substantial disincentives to pregnancy.

“Google—historically a frequent target of geofence warrants—announced technical changes to its software last year, making it effectively impossible to respond to these types of warrants.” Good to see tech changes in response to surveillance overreach.
