TIL this is also called St John’s Wort, my mom is a florist (USA) and on a trip to Scotland last year I was so charmed to see the plant I know as hypericum growing wild!
Boston is covered in deadly nightshade but no hypericum 🥲

I love your location drawings, but I get a ton out of taking photos on location and using them later! I’ll def sketch/paint a little on trips, but it’s simply too much pressure to be an Artiste while also observing the world AND enjoying myself??? Gotta take care

I’ve had good luck with schminke masking fluid, but admittedly don’t use masking fluid too often.

Any acrylic would work, I think, btw - that’s just the kind of acrylic I already had at home. Have fun!

It is actually acryla gouache, since that won’t reactivate and mix with the colors I put on top of it! A tip I picked up 2 days ago from @gruselzirkus.bsky.social
I also used acryla gouache for the sky to get a brighter white. The rest is regular gouache

Wow thank you! That’s so helpful, I have been noticing when I underpaint with gouache it reactivates way more than even watercolor. I’ll try something with a palette like this and see how I do! I’ve been in a bit of a red/blue/yellow rut but I want to break free

This looks so good!! I’ve been getting into gouache lately and I’m wondering about your palette - is this straight up hot pink, a blue, a green, and white? The hot pink really gives the lushness an edge
